What are you doing ear?

Today, I discovered that the hearing in my left ear is still good. I haven't been able to hear that well out of it for 2 weeks and I thought I popped an eardrum and waited for it to heal. I stuck a Q-Tip in there to clean it out. Turns out there was actually a dead fly in my ear. For 2 weeks. FML

so..you didn't clean your ears for two weeks? that's disgusting, the fly was probably attracted by the nasty smell your 2 week old ear wax was giving off. ..ew.

... if your eardrum had POPPED, there would be agonizing pain involved and your sense of balance would be all ****** up. not only that, ear problems don't usually heal on their own, or at all.

That's disgusting, why wouldn't you check inside your ear when you had problems hearing? Plus, clean your ears more often. You should stick a Q-tip in there more than once a month. YDI for not cleaning your ears on a regular basis.

Do all of you people making fun of the OP clean your ears out every single day? I seriously doubt it, so shut up. Anyway, that's still pretty disgusting.

Uhh, can't say most people do, but I'm pretty sure that most people also don't wait 2 weeks before they clean their ears either.

OP, if you popped your eardrum you would know. It's super painful even if it's only a partial. Also, so everyone knows, you're not supposed to use q-tips if you have a popped eardrum. And they take like a month or so to heal so that's probably why (s)he didn't use anything for so long.

If you pop an eardrum they don't so much "heal" as scar up so the eardrum can't move as much and reduces your hearing pretty much permanently. You'd know if that happened. It's pretty damn tricky.
