Today, I just got a girlfriend who I love a lot, but I’m friends with this other girl out of pity. It’s so obvious she likes me a lot, and even goes the extra mile for me, but she’s just not my type. I’ve contemplated many times how to get rid of her without hurting her feelings. I just can’t bring myself to do it. FML

Today, I’ve been waiting for the girl I love to break up with her boyfriend so I could ask her out. It finally happened; however she said she wanted time to heal before she started getting involved with guys again. I respected that decision. There’s just one problem. I saw her in town, hand in hand with another man. FML

I think it's best, and I get the impression that you know this too, to in some way let her know that there's no chance you'll ever be anything more than friends.

Your username is right. You are a jerk. She goes the extra mile for you and shows you she cares and you choose someone else because “She’s not your type” Are you kidding me right now? There’s a saying that goes that says “The grass isn’t really greener on the other side.” Get out of her way so she can find someone who actually deserves her. You don’t deserve her at all. Dude, not telling her is the cruelest thing of all. Do you really want to be kind to her? Have that honest conversation and tell her that she deserves someone who can't wait to hear her voice every morning, and that you can't offer her that. Because that is the simple truth.
