Why would you do that?

its pretty ******* annoying that yanks think we all speak in the same way. irish, scottish, welsh, cockney, farmerr, posh stereotype..
Irish =/= British.
its pretty ******* annoying that people who arent yanks think we all think that you all speak in the same way. irish, scottish, welsh, cockney, farmerr, posh stereotype.. see what i did there ?
one thing I hate is being called a yank. Yankees are from the North and yet all Americans are referred to as Yankees. I will admit that I love English accents. Can I differentiate between them for the life of me? no. But I have never lived over there so I don't know what accents belong to what region. Can I tell the difference between Irish, Scottish and English. Yes. not that difficult. There are plenty of Americans that are morons, however, they don't make up the entire population of the United States of America. Just had to get that out, thanks. :)
She didn't say ALL YANKS, she just said when YANKS. She was just saying she found it annoying when Americans think we all speak the same (which it is) not that she thinks every single American thinks we speak the same way (and I don't mean to offend you but I have not come across ONE single post I here written by and American about Brits where they've not made this exact or similar stereotyped/mistake)
Am I the only one to notice that the OP was a man, hitting on a male cashier?
HAHA
No I noticed. I thought it was weird. Why would he assume that the cashier was gay anyway? Odd.
Gay guys exist, you know. You don't have to act like it's so funny/weird/special.
Gay guys exist too, you know. Can't it be casually just like evry other story. #27: It's called 'gaydar'.
No, macaroni, I caught that, too. I found it enlightening in case I ever "go gay." Now I know that fake accent shit doesn't work in their world either. Note to self.
27: If that's your policy, you must not hit on anyone, as you'd be assuming they're straight.
Why would assume thy anyone's straight, that's homophobic don't you think?
You're an idiot. I hate dumb little pre-teen fangirls. And no matter your actual age or gender, if you are faking an accent, you ARE a dumb little pre-teen fangirl.
youre complimenting him. its every gays dream.
A fangirl of what exactly? All of England? You are an idiot.
a fangirl of dumb little pre-teens, obviously. join the pedoclub man.
LOL xD Amreicans + British Acent = EPIC FAIL XD You know, you should have tried a Welsh Accent, Best Accent in the World! but you would have been laughed at even more (y) Well done, from an english person...
Wow, fail. I'm American, but my dad is from Bath. I've spent a good bit of time there over the years and whenever I come back home, my accent is always different. My friends are always surrounding me going, "do your "British" accent, do your "British" accent!" I just want to smack them. And when most Americans try an English accent, it's usually a major fail. I just don't get the fascination...
Why did you make fart noises in class when you were a kid? Because they sounded funny. That's where the fascination with English accents comes from; they sound funny to Americans.
funny. awesome. sexy. cool. mysterious. theres really no one reason.
I believe someone once said something about Americans being obsessed with Britain because we are so much older than American that we had civilised government before you were even discovered, I think that's quite a plausible reason, also we're quite 'quaint'.......
American British accents are usually so bad, it sounds like you're mocking us. Please stop.
Ever noticed how many British and Australian actors star in American TV shows and movies? Probably not, because they're all speaking with flawless American accents.
define "American Accent" different people from different parts of america speak with different accents.
Yeah it's awesome, Aussies are taking over Hollywood :P Glad the Aus film industry is getting a bit bigger too - despite Baz's 'Australia' :S
He means Americans doing British accents, any Americans
So what was supposed to happen if he fell for it, and asked you out? Were you going to keep pretending you had an accent? It was a pretty stupid move!
he could say "oh no thanks. i dont like you like that" boom. crisis averted. you do know that you dont have to say yes to everyone that ever asks you out right?
******* yanks, never try to copy our accents because you're clearly jealous of the fact that everyone can understand us and not your stupid accents.
Dude, I can understand most english accents except British accents :/ I Always have to say "What?" then feel like an idiot because the second time they say it exactly the way they said it the first time +
Are you kidding? While English accents can be pleasant and sophisticated sometimes, heavy English accents are some of the least understandable and most cacophonous accents in the world.
135 - I am an Australian. I realise that was an Australian comedy show. The whole show is, as you said, comedy; it plays off the stereotype that Americans have difficulty understanding others' accents or engaging in another's culture. Like all stereotypes, it's not true. I just thought it seemed relevant to the discussion that was going on at the time. If you found it /so/ offensive, I do humbly apologise
sorry mate but this was a fail on your behalf. The real element is Aluminium, not Aluminum. Maybe you should get your facts right before trying to bag out Australians. Most Australians have the ability to understand all accents, unlike Americans who have trouble understanding Australians (I speak from experience - traveled the East and West coast, as well as meeting them in various locations around the world) American: "where are you from?" Me: "Australia" "Where" "Australia" "I don't know where that is" Asks my friend with weird greek-australian accent, sorta stutters "where are you from" "Australia, same with my friend here" "oh right Australia, couldn't recognise your accent" I know not all Americans are like this, but i nearly punched this guy in the head.
maybe that guy was just an idiot. we have a lot of those.
Actually, that's not true at all. I can understand American accents perfectly, when I listen to Americans speaking, it's like I'm listening to someone talking my native language. But British accents...I can sometimes barely understand them..for example, I had to download subtitles to understand wtf are they saying in A Clockwork Orange. This is not always the case, but still...I find American accents easiest to understand.
That's because they're using slang made up for the movie in A Clockwork Orange - English people don't actually talk that way...*Interesting side note* There's a clockwork orange dictionary online to puzzle it all out :) Though I do agree, sometimes I can't understand English accents (or maybe I was suffering major jetlag). I once had an English flight attendant ask me something about Hamburg and I thought she was saying handbag for like 10 minutes. Man she must have thought I was dumb...
Yeah, #36, you know nothing. "American" accents are the most understandable English accents. Nearly every other accent pronounces things incorrectly (such as how many English people say "ah" instead of "r"). I'm not sure what to actually call this accent, but I just say it's "Correct English."

what's the point of faking? if you got a date, you'd have to keep it up 24/7.
Wow, you're really stupid.
