Today, while shopping, I saw a little girl and her mom. The girl was pouting so I tried to cheer her up by asking her if she was a princess, because she was so pretty. She smiled but her mom looked at me with disgust and told me to, "Get lost, pedo." I'm a 17-year-old girl. FML

I just made an account to thank everyone for the kind comments :) Looking back, I do realize I could have interrupted her time out or something but I still think her mom reacted bit harshly. I just called her a princess because she was dressed girly and that's what I would have wanted to be called when I was little, haha. I didn't really think about how she was raised or the implications of the word, it was just a quick comment. I certainly didn't mean to offend her mother.

It's amazing how society is so sexist that it seems appropriate to say that she's a girl. What if the story was: I was accused of shoplifting just because I had things in my pockets. I'm a seventeen year old white person. Being white or female doesn't matter. The fact that you think it does is just disgusting.

I totally agree with 135. You lost my sympathy when you felt the need to point out that you're a girl. Too many females get away with being pedophiles because no one suspects them.

What, girls can't be pedophiles? I worked in a residential treatment facility for kids, and we had the most pedophiles in the teenage girl unit as opposed to the teenage boy unit. Girls can be predators too. The mother was right to tell you to get lost if you gave her the creeper vibe.

Regardless of the mom's 'reasoning' for being rude, that's still extremely rude to say to someone who just tried to cheer up your kid. I don't necessarily like strangers stopping to talk to and touch my kid but I'm at least not going off calling them all pedophiles >.<
