hopefully you stood up for your mother-in-law and told her husband if he didn't like your taste in wine to purchase his own.
It's just wine. Nothing to FML about here.
The father in law slept wineless
Did she sell you out?
Who the **** tells off their father in law??? Especially as a boyfriend/husband, etc... Jesus, people think they can treat anyone however they want just cause they dont agree, especially those older than you. Saying ah, that was actually me that brought the wine is totally fine, but standing up to someone who probably has a pretty lax relationship with their wife and has no problem expressing their thoughts with her is just ******* disrespectful on your part.
If OP is not big into wine he probably should have gotten some help in picking it out. Nevertheless the whole situation is unfortunate.
Nobody has to know.... Just smile and wave...
Not everyone likes one particular brand of wine, don't beat yourself up OP.
Can't please everyone. Specially those who can't just say they didn't like it instead of overreacting
So how did this end? I wanna know.
What a winey father-in-law you're stuck with. Did you tell him to put a cork in it?
Why are you trying to impress with something you are unfamiliar with? I'm sure there are many other qualities that you have, otherwise, their daughter wouldn't have married you. Stick with things you know.
Who says OP is unfamiliar with wine? It just says his father-in-law didn't like it.
I got the impression because he said "I put a lot of effort into..." If he really knew wines well it would take any effort. I wasn't trying to put OP down, just suggesting that he shouldn't feel he has to impress at this point, but if he felt he did then stick to something that he absolutely knows would turn out well.

Welp, you tried, ultimately though, you failed. The important question: did you stand up for the mom in law, or not? That wins you points in the moms book, or makes you lose points.
