Her roommate ALSO has the hours of her choosing. If OP works from 0AM to 8AM, as I think she does, she could either sleep from 8AM to 4PM or from 4PM to 0AM. Why should someone else change their whole life if they are living a normal life. If her roommate would be hosting parties all the time I could understand, but she can't even invite someone over!

I highly doubt OP chose to work these hours. I know how hard it was for my stepdad to sleep during the day.

I'm not saying OP chose those hours, but if she sleeps right after work, her roommate can still invite people over in the evening, cause I presume her roommate has work/college during those hours. And sleep during the day becomes a lot easier with dark curtains (perhaps earplugs). I'm in college and during holidays I sometimes sleep from 1PM to 11PM. I know my sleeping rhythm is of and I won't complain if I get woken up by my roommate. Also I'm just saying, there's a difference between having people over and throwing a party.

If OP is like any normal person, she probably has other things to do (eat, do laundry, pay bills, etc.) during the time she winds down after work. Also, hospital employment usually entails some kind of constant studying. I understand why OP is set in her schedule, but I also see your point. :)

That's ridiculous, would you go to bed immediately after work at 5 pm? I doubt it. If the roommate went to bed after she got off work, their schedules would be more in synch according to your logic. You obviously have never worked graveyard, just like any job, your mind and body needs to wind down for a little bit before bed. I'm sure the roommate (and you) would be upset if the OP brought home a gaggle of people to party 6 am. It's the same situation, learn empathy and simple logic.

I've never had a fulltime job since I'm still in college, but I have had times where I went straight to bed as soon as I got home after a part-time job or classes.

Also, they main reason people don't go to sleep at 5PM is because it's still light outside. If you work a graveyard shift it's gonna be light outside at whatever time you go to sleep.

Most people need time to wind down after work, even if you don't. My boyfriend works a twelve hour night shift, 6 pm to 6 am, and he still takes an hour or two most of the time to wind down before he can go to sleep. OP pays half the rent and is entitled to relax for a little bit before going to sleep. Maybe the roommate should have people over when op is at work or after op wake up. Furthermore, if the roommate was planning on being reasonably quiet with her guests, having people over wouldn't be a problem.

Glidah - you've never had a full- time job so your opinion can't count for shit on this topic. I work from 6pm to 6am and I don't fall asleep till around 8:30 am (yeah it takes time getting home from your job too) even that is because I have to squeeze in my 7-8 hour sleep so that I'm not tired when heading to work at 4:30pm (omg yes commuting time again)...quite simply OP's room-mate is a twat, and if she's bothered about waking her up then it's partying for certain. My room- mates has friends over all the time when I'm asleep, never bothers me and they're a bunch of stoners too
