You need to learn to control your dog. It's more than likely that you knew that your dog might bite someone you bring over. Leave the dog outside, put it in a cage, or tie it up. I hope you learned your lesson.

You deserved it. You shouldn't have your dog at the dinner table or anywhere near where you're cooking or where food is being served. You shouldn't have your dog around someone it isn't used to being around either if you don't know how it's going to react. If you can't put the dog outside at least put it in another room until your boss leaves. This is more of a FML for your boss than you. "Today, I went over to an employee's house for dinner. I thought things would remain on a professional level, but his damn dog was in the same room and bit me. FML."

German shepherds are good dogs if you train them properly. YDI for letting your dog think he is dominant to humans.
