Cat fight club

Today, I went to feed my neighbor's cat while he was out of town. The cat was sick, so part of my job was to give it a pill each time I came. Cats don't like swallowing pills. My neighbor forgot to mention that his cat wasn't declawed. I was wearing shorts. FML

Surely you should assume that all cats have claws until proven otherwise?

Is it the norm for cats to be "declawed" over there? How mean.

awww sorry for you, but cats/pets are a person best friend they love you unconditionally,no persons I know have that!. Since you're a nice person enough to feed it and "take care of it" you can arm yourself of one of two things to avoid the cat attacking you. Water gun to scare it way when it wants to attack you. Or catnip (grass that cats really love , its like the mariquna for cats, I dont do it so I dont know how to spell it) $6.00 at pet land and distract it from you while you refill cat food water etc.

I had to give my kitten meds since she was 3 months old, and now she hates being held. what you can do is clip its nails first, just the tips, too close to the pawn will cut the nerve veins and they don't like that. hold it where its head if facing the same direction where you are look toward with its back facing you, pop the pill in its mouth, hold its mouth for half to a full minute by that time it should of swallowed it . 2nd alternative, grind down the pill mix with few drops of water, use those food color droppers on its mouth and quickly release in its mouth. Good luck

you dont try to put a pill in a cats moth. you put it in to the food...

For those of you who think that declawing a cat it simply taking off the nail or that it doesn't hurt or hurts less if they're young - you have obviously never seen the procedure done or watched a cat wake up after this surgery. As a pre-vet student I have completed several internships I have observed this procedure a few times so I know from first-hand experience exactly what happens: the first knuckle is cut off, bone is removed, and the end of the toe stitched back together. I have also seen the animals wake up after surgery in obvious pain despite being given pain medication. This is a cruel procedure and should NEVER be used. If you cannot deal with scratching or are more concerned with your clothes and furniture than your pet you should not get a cat.

declawing cats makes them meaner and angrier. it makes them bite a lot too.

You deserve it for assuming the cat would be declawed. Declawing is a horribly cruel procedure that only people who are grossly naïve or otherwise too selfish and lazy to properly train their cats get done. How would you like to have the tips of all your fingers and toes cut off?

You totally deserved it. Grind up the pill and put it in the food. What genius gives a pill to a cat that doesn't know you. Why not just hump an alligator.

Let me ask you something. What drove you to assume the cat would be declawed? I hope you never meet another cat again, except if it's in the process of killing you.
