Today, my husband and I broke the news to my 10-year-old son that in about 8 months, he'll have a baby brother or sister. I knew he never wanted a sibling, but I didn't expect him to throw a tantrum, then look at me through teary eyes and scream, "Why can't you keep your fucking legs closed?" FML

I can't decide if I want to say fyl or ydi. On one hand, I understand that at 10 years old, he is getting a lot of his social behaviors from outside the home, but on the other hand, teaching your child the difference between the right and wrong social behaviors to embrace is part of your job as a parent. In no way should you need to consult your 10 year old on having another child. Yes, it affects his life, but it's still not a decision he needs to be consulted on. There is 10 years between my oldest brother and I (with others in between), but he was never made to be a 3rd parent. If my 10 year old talked to me that way, I wouldn't want them alone with the baby anyway, as it doesn't seem he is mature enough to handle the responsibility. Does the kid have a right to be upset? Of course he does, but he chose poorly in the way he acted out. I may have thrown a tantrum and stormed off to my room, but never would I have spoken in such a disrespectful manner. I would have had no taste buds left after the Tabasco mouth wash I would have received.

Lol sorry OP. Congrats on the new member of the family!

He's 10. He should've be allowed to speak like that! It's not his choice, either!

bis little brother will have absolutely no fun in early childhood

Who are we to pass judgement about the age difference between siblings? I am the youngest of 9. Biggest gap is 16 years. To each their own. And Perhaps it is a new marriage, since OP said "her son" and not "our son". The FML was for the sons language, not the age difference.

I would whoop that boys ass into next week.

Wow... Congratulation, you're raising a sexist bully... Unfortunately
