The definition of a phobia is an intense and irrational fear of something. You are an idiot.
Haha. At least you have an irrational fear that's common and makes sense to people. I have no fear of spiders, but I do have trypophobia (a fear of particular patterns of holes). I google images every once and a while to desensitize myself, and it works usually, but sometimes it just leaves me a shivering mess.
i OWN spiders that can live up to 12 years... i have also been bitten by a recluse on a very ...id rather not have that bitten... place. yet i still cant understand why ANYONE is afraid of spiders.
i try to squish them but i usually end up missing and then running away like a spaz lol
every year you swallow up to eight spiders in your sleep
did you know every year you eat 8 spiders when you sleep?
Ok, this may sound pretentious, but last year, in my college psych class, we learned of a method to combat phobias like this and it should help. Start by getting very relaxed, either sitting or lying down, starting with your toes and slowly moving up until every inch of you is relaxed. Then you start by just imagining the idea of a spider (start very abstract, like just the word "spider") for a few minutes. Repeat this a few hours later or the next day. Then, once you feel comfortable enough (if you're already comfortable, you shouldn't have to repeat), start imagining an image of a spider, just a still image, and do the same steps as before. Then imagine the spider moving, then imagine that the spider is within your mental line of vision, then you're touching the spider, then maybe more spiders. Slowly, step by step in this manner, the mental spiders slowly becoming more and more realistic. Remember: NONE OF THESE STEPS REQUIRE YOU TO COME IN ACTUAL PHYSICAL CONTACT OR PROXIMITY WITH A REAL SPIDER! It's all mental. The brain is a very powerful thing. Good luck!
