So you planned a day for you, not both of you. And now your surprised he's not interested in doing something a woman would enjoy for herself. Go back over the last three years and get to know something about the guy. And women complain that men don't pay any attention to them. I'd be surprised if you even know his favorite color, and just get him stuff you like.
YDI for teasing him and letting him guess. since you already paid, you should have just shut your mouth and took him there. He may not like it but he probably wouldn't have made a big deal. now you're forced to choose between doing something else (and waste money) or doing the spa day anyway and risk seeming like you don't care that he didn't want to do that. oh and also your fault for planning everything yourself, control freak.
I guess mine is in the minority, but my bf doesn't mind a spa day once in a while. There's nothing gay about de-stressing your mind and body. He's not going to get a pedicure, but contrary to popular belief, many men are. In fact, you wouldn't believe how many guys come into spas to get waxed, get their hair done, get massages, etc. It's pretty normal. Most people just haven't caught on to the growing trend yet, and most men won't admit it.
Also, two things wrong with the story: 1.) How did this take a month to plan? You just call and make the appointments, it takes maybe 5 minutes. 2.) You almost never pay in advance for spa services. That's like paying for a meal before you have it. They might require a credit card number for the reservation, but you don't pay until after. Even if you did already pay, it's called a refund.
does the spa offer happy endings?
Holy sun screen Bat Man this girl is an idiot! Just goes to show you how women are always thinking of themselves. Next time plan something you both enjoy. What ever made you think your boyfriend would want to spend an entire day at a spa? I mean its not like your birthday comes around and he thinks you would like to spend the evening at a monster truck rally right? Which btw is what I would do to you after this disaster of an aniversary gift.
YDI for not knowing that he would hate something like that after seeing him for 3 years.

FYL for already paying for it, but YDI for not knowing what he likes.
Take your best friend and get him something else and just don't tell him about your original idea. It's not that big of a deal. P.S. You'd think after 3 years you'd know if he liked spa days or not.
