Today, I finally had a date, my first one in well over a year. Everything was going good, until my date asked, "Do you like cats or dogs better?" When I responded cats, my date promptly got up and left, saying, "This isn't meant to be." FML

I could maybe understand if you owned cats and the person was allergic or had asthma because that's a health issue but just preferring cats? That's harsh.

Sorry, OP. Maybe it's just the scepticism in me, but maybe the date wasn't going that well from their perspective so they asked you that. And no matter what the answer would have been, they'd still have left. Chin up, more and better dates will come around :>

If he's allergic (or has a phobia of cats), I can understand. But, if he's just a douche, you're better off. I prefer cats myself. They're easier to take care of, and I'm terrified of dogs (bit in the eye by one when I was younger). But, if it were the first or last, there is a better way to say it.

I couldnt date a person who was a cat person because I am allergic. Even when taking allergy meds, my eyes get real itchy and sinuses haywire. I like cats, just can't be in a house with one. And if I learned a guy I date hated dogs, I'd leave cause I have two dogs. I will not put up with the "Its me or the dogs" ultimatum.
