God. The sheer ignorance of some of these commenters. This is why the damn gene pool needs bleached.
One dog I had actually LIKED the taste of those sprays. He ended up chewing way more, haha. Try researching different techniques or try puppy training class.
Dogs don't have any taste buds that's why their sense of smell is bloody amazing
Dogs don't have any taste buds that's why their sense of smell is bloody amazing which is why they lick each other and everything else their tongue can reach without a problem Whatever tasting spray you get they won't taste But spicy they can sense that because spice isn't a taste but merely the sensation you get which is why your whole mouth and throat burn if you eat something terribly spicy
Yep, happened to me too. It's disgusting. And to top it all off, I'm pretty sure my puppy actually liked the taste of it.
As someone mentioned before, dogs do not go by the sense of taste but that of smell. But when it comes to chewing it's better to keep the dog in a kennel and WATCH it when it is out, if you see it starting to chew give a stern correction (I DON'T MEAN HIT IT), allowing it to know it isn't ok to chew. Getting it chew toys will also really help in a situation like this. If your dog is one of those that destroys toys, rawhide bones work amazing. A puppy is like a kid, they will do things over and over until they realize it isn't ok to do. Every puppy goes through a chewing faze, it's mainly due to their teething, though some get more into it then others and become destructive. Keeping it in a kennel when you are gone not only helps prevent your house from being destroyed, it also gives the puppy a place where it can feel safe. Adding toys/bones and a blanket will help that "secure" feeling. Remember, you can't rely on those kind of products, same as barking collars. The owner (YOU) have to take action, letting the puppy know you are alpha and you wont stand for the misbehavoir.
I used to work in a pet store in Georgia and as part of product awareness training we were shown two sprays the bitter apple and one by kaytee that is not alcohol based .... we had to try one of the two I opted for the non alcohol based one ... biiiiig mistake the more you salivate the more it spreads :'p
My dog did that , tried hot sauce , spray you name it nothing worked . After chewing up my then girlfriends good shoes and all of her bras - and yes he figured out how to get both the bedroom door and dresser drawer open to get to them - we made that damn dog go to a farm where he could run free , he was chewing on everything because he was bored.
