DON'T MOVE!

Today, I woke up at three in the morning when two cops busted in the door to my apartment and a frantic voice on my cellphone saying "Sir? Sir? Are you all right? Sir?" Turns out I had been having a nightmare and dreamed I called 911. I actually did. FML

BAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAAA omg. sorry. I've done something like that before. Except I overdosed and hallucinated that I called 911 but I really didn't.

Some of you people downing the OP are retards. Look up sleep disorfers BEFORE you call BS.

#21 and 29 All phones have a GPS chip in them so 911 operators can locate you. Most phone companies even offer services so you can track the phones on your plan. #39 911 is 911. It doesn't matter if it is from a landline or a cell phone. And like I just said, they can locate you with the GPS chip in your phone. #55 Having features like that would make it near impossible to call 911 in emergency situations. I believe this story. I have talked on the phone while I have been asleep, granted I don't remember it, but it has happened.

#39, read other posts before you post. #4, I don't think he was explaining anything. I'm sure he was the one asking questions, like, "What happened? What are you doing here? Why am I on the phone?" and they pieced it together shortly after. That's funny though. Hope they didn't bust your door up too badly.

ouch, that REALLY blows. I'm terrified of doing stuff in my sleep. That's batshit insane.

You guys, what about him having a landline phone next to his bed? Haven't you ever seen a movie from before 1995 in which the main character/his sidekick gets called out of his bed?

#38 is right -- you should definitely go get checked out by a sleep pathologist. It will probably help you sleep better, and if you're able to perform complex functions while sleepwalking, you may be a danger to yourself and your family (or at least anyone you sleep with). There are several instances of beatings and murders carried out while asleep -- in addition to people doing really unsafe things like driving. As for being able to find him via cell phone, there are several ways to find you: the easy way and the hard way. Here's the easy way: they get your number from caller ID, cross-check it with phone company records, and then check the towers your phone is using. If you know anything about how cell phones work, your phone contacts a bunch of nearby radio towers to communicate -- if they're near your house, it's a pretty safe bet that you're IN your registered address. The hard way is to use the E911 service present in all modern phones (which you can turn off, if you like). Using E911, you can narrow down the person's location drastically using a radio contact map from nearby cell towers -- but that definitely won't get you to house-level specificity. So, most likely, they did it the easy way -- "where are you?" -- "home" -- "suchandsuch address?" -- "yup". And that's how the cops show up, without needing you to provide any real info.
