sounds to me that it's not about the purse but more about him being proud of himself for finding a present for you that he was very considerate and caring about. Give him some credit for it, he just wants some compliments about how good of a boyfriend he is. And about the birthday sex thing; I havent read anywhere that you cannot get both presents and sex on your birthday.. so what the hell are you waiting for!? Go seduce your man instead of causing drama out of nothing!!

The fml doesn't actually say that she communicated her desires to him. For all we know she just sat there expecting him to jump her bones cause it was her birthday, and all she got was that friggin' purse. That doesn't make him gay.
