Freaky dreams

Today, I took an extra Xanax to help with my anxiety, then went to sleep. I guess it was probably too much, because I woke up a few hours later, freaking out and panicking because I was convinced I was a bee trapped in a human body. FML

Sounds so trippy! I get sleep paralysis, so I know the scary feeling, OP!

I imagined OP spazzing out like a dog if it's woken up in the middle of a dream when I read this.

OP, I just want you to know something to make you feel better. You can't prove you're not a bee trapped in a human body to anyone, including yourself.

YDI for taking drugs like xanax. Benzodiazepines are very dangerous drugs! I have an anxiety disorder too but I will never ever take this crap. If you like messing with your brain go for it but don't be shocked when in a few years you discover that you are addicted to xanax.

Oh please shut up. Some people need the medication to function, don't act as if you know better than anyone about Xanax. You don't know why he was prescribed Xanax and you don't get to act all might and high just because YOU don't feel like you need it. OP deserved it for messing with his medication, NOT for having a medication!

I used to have a major problem with anxiety but don't have it anymore. I had a look around and found a drug called Buspirone. Most doctors have never heard of it, but its in their medications books, just ask them to take a look. It works just as well as Valium, with much less side effects, and best of all - unlike benzodiazepines - it isn't addictive.

Seriously? You obviously don't have very serious anxiety if you'd bash someone for taking Xanax. Panic attacks are EXTREMELY painful. Example: my uncle, whose job is in the medical field actually had to go to the ER because of the pain in his chest and inability to control it. Not everyone is lucky enough to just push through it, and sometimes the side effects of taking a pill are much less harsh than the effects of unstablized anxiety. There are several times that taking a benzo for my panic attacks has saved my life because of the things I think of doing during a panic attack. I have been on several benzodiazepine based drugs for about 5 years and I have NEVER had an issue with abuse or dependency of them. I do not take them unless I need them and I continue to go to an anxiety specialist to work on coping methods that don't involve drugs. So just because YOU can't take medication responsibly doesn't mean it works that way for everyone.

Taking narkotics is a sin! It's better to die than do drugs. God gave us this illness to test our strength.

I've never heard of Xanax having such an affect before. I've taken it myself (strong doses) and it's only ever calmed me the **** down, how can it make you hallucinate like that? I'm going to have to consider this bullshit until someone can tell me if it's possible or not.

Sounds like you woke up with a buzz.

Ummm, having been on Xanax for several years, you should REALLY talk to your doctor because that isn't a good sign.

That... doesn't sound good to me. You might want to have a word with your prescribing physician about trying an alternative medication. One that DOESN'T make you feel like you're undergoing the inverse of Kafka's "Metamorphosis".
