Grammar rules, OK!

Today, my new boss lost his shit and flew into a ten minute rant against me about the "value of respect". He told me that if I wanted to stay in "his" company, I'd best start toeing the line. All this because I corrected his misuse of "your" and "you're" in one of his memos. FML

The troubles of being a grammar nazi... No respect

Most people on this thread are as stupid as the op's boss. Don't like it if someone corrected your grammar, then get your brain removed. The human race doesn't need people who don't appreciate grammar or the grammar nazi's.

Siege hail!!! Oh wait.. Ah nobody's perfect.regardless who they are. Look at G.Bush jr.

This is like shooting fish in a barrel.

I don't get why people make a huge deal about grammar. It's not like forgetting a few apostrophes make the whole thing unreadable. I think that as long as you get the message across that's all that matters. Obviously if it was an important memo you should watch your grammar, but if you're in a casual situation I think it's fine to forget a few apostrophes here and there. Honestly. People have huge spaz attacks over the silliest things.

No. 157, to have spelling, grammar or usage errors in written material is to appear to be either too lazy to check or too stupid to know the difference. Lazy and stupid are not good career attributes so even though you think the ability to construct three consecutive grammatically correct English sentences is useless since one could use pigeon English and get one's point across just as easily, the fact is that in most cases the grammar Nazi will win the 'jump ball' for a job. Every time someone makes a silly mistake and sends it out, people are reading it and thinking 'stupid' behind that person's back and that person's intelligence goes down a notch in the eyes of others. Every time I read the 'speak your mind' sentence on this site I grind my teeth because it is, in fact, grammatically incorrect. It should actually read, "Speak your mind, but please try TO be respectful." One attempts TO be something, one does not attempt 'and be' something. See what I mean?

Yeah, it's like capital letters and commas and punctuation and things like that. You'd don't really need them, they are just for the grammar nazis. Anyway i have to go help my uncle jack off his donkey.

Turns out I wasn't needed after all. My uncle, Jack, managed to get off the donkey by himself.

The boss is always right. Don't correct them unless they ask!

It was probably the way you said it OP no one likes grammar Nazis-.-

Why do you think proper usage, grammar and spelling in a written document is snobbish? Is it because wealthy people tend to have better grammar than people with lower incomes? Perhaps that is why they are wealthy. They were taken seriously because they say 'don't have any' instead of 'ain't got none' and their written documents were perfect. Correct English screams 'professional' and 'smart' to readers and listeners while incorrect says 'dumb ass' or 'lazy.'
