Maybe the OP did a degree in film studies? I'm pretty sure that would be worth shit in the real world. All depends on what OP majored in.
Dude, seriously, who put a pole up your ass today?
I'm not a dude. Also, nobody, I just hate people who bitch and whine about things like this, if they're too dim to realise it's affecting everyone, and have to sit and complain here, then they're not going to get a great job in the real world are they? They're childish enough to post 'wah wah wah, I have a job but I want another one, but I can't get what I want so I'll complain on the internet along with mentioning how superior I am with my masters degree' well, they shouldn't have a job. People should be pleased to have a job, and learn to be a bit more humble. A job is not beneath everyone, and people shouldn't act like it is. Simple really. People are just arrogant, it's human nature, which is why I generally hate the human race.
You know, the fact that you "hate the human race" makes you pretty arrogant. Do you hate yourself as well? Also, I think it's important to note that some people have valid reasons to hate their jobs. Some jobs and bosses can suck out your soul. I had a job like that. Because of other factors mixed with the fact that my job entailed far more than I was led to believe when I started and the hours became ridiculous, I had a bit of a nervous breakdown. I was not arrogant. I didn't believe that I was better than that job, but it was a horrible job to have. Not everything is black and white.
That's exactly what I'm saying, though this person is qualified, they might just not be attractive to the people he's trying to find a job from. That or he could be lazy, an asshole in intreviews or any number of possibilities. It just seems this this person thinks that their masters degree makes them entitled toe a nicer/better/well payed job, yes, maybe it will one day, but in times like this, everyones in the same boat, qualified or not. To say their degree looks like toilet paper is stupid, because though qualifications mean a lot more than they should nowadays, it all depends on what the OP majored in, if it's something like teaching, then fair enough, but if its like media studies or film studies, or some other bullshit degree like that, then we can't determine whether the OP is just being a jackass or whether they have every right to be pissed as their degree was a career step, rather than just taking 3/4 years out of the real world because they're too lazy to get a job. It's not arrogant to dislike human nature, I don't like things that I do a lot of the time. Some people are nice, unfortunately a sweeping generalisation would be that a lot of the time, most people are not, most people ARE arrogant, selfish and a number of things, it's human nature, and that's why I don't like people. It's a fair comment.
shit happens and if your lucky well get out of this recession and things will be normal again but then again... who knows it may take years!!! you should just join the military like 26 sugggests it's the only field that gives u a for check bi weekly.. and it depends on ur degree in like music then fyl cause it'll be hard..
just start your own bidness.
I agree start a business but make sure you do quality work or your name could be Mudd.
yeah this is how everyone feels, thats what they are talking about when they say "the economy"
^ This. A lot of people are in the same situation or worse because they don't even have a job to miserable about. Believe it or not, you're lucky. Keep looking and keep doing your current job to the best of your ability. Every other day there is an FML about this. Just sayin
I think it's admirable that you've been applying anyway. Keep it up, you'll find something better eventually.
I'm in a job where it just kills my motivation and I move out of home so I get out more which doesn't help the situation of buckling down and applying. I have been working my shitty job for a year and a bit too long and I am sick to death of hearing wankers say be grateful for having a job. I wish my current workplace said I was too overqualified and my career goals weren't aligned with what they wanted. I'd probably have a real job by now!
Hang in there; it will all pay off in the future!
A degree and a masters does make you more qualified in your field, its also something you put effort into to get and because you put effort into it you should at least be considered for a job in your field. Even if it is a job on the very bottom rung of a company. I think people with degrees are looked down upon because they are seen as pretencious kids with no common sense. Im not saying we deserve the top positions in a company becuase everyone should learn a little on the job too but at least consider us for jobs that we have qualifications in. How are we supposed to get experience if no one will give us a chance.
