High on life

By badsister - 10/01/2010 15:37 - United States

Today, I made a batch of "special" brownies for a party I was going to tonight. I wrapped them up and put them on the counter with a note that said DO NOT EAT. Later on I came home from some errands to find a tray of half eaten brownies and my ten year-old sister passed out on the couch. FML

You did that with a 10 year old in the house? What a moron!

Brace yourself for millions of ignorant commenters wondering what "special" brownies signify.

Leaving special brownies on the counter with a 10 yr old girl around. Damn special brownies.... YDI for being such an ass. Think before you act... :

YDI simply for using drugs in the first place. Marijuana kills brain cells and, in case people forgot, it's illegal. I feel so bad for your little sister... I'm just in shock. Poor girl got high and became unconscious. I REALLY hope your parents found out. Also, to drug users on here, what exactly is the appeal of being high and completely out of it? I fail to see why people would want to use drugs.

I completely agree. Everyone defending the OP doesn't seem to realize how dumb it is to leave a dangerous, illegal substance in easy reach of a 10-year-old, especially when it's in a form that a 10-year-old would be especially tempted to eat.

The appeal is that pot is a lot less damaging to the brain and body than anti-anxiety medications, anti-depressants and the like which a lot of people are on these days. It can help sick people get their appetites back. It will lower the pressure in the eyes of a glaucoma patient. It also helps to suppress nausea and for those wacky insomniacs out there it is a heck of a lot safer than sleeping pills. I must also add that it can help lessen those agonizing PMS cramps that many women get without having to resort to Tylenol, Motrin, or any one of those over the counter medications that can cause major damage to your organs. Then there is also the benefit of it can make even really boring things very interesting. I'm not saying anyone should run out and get stoned just that doing so is not as horrible so many people try to make it out to be. I realize that it is illegal, (there are a lot of places that will look the other way if you aren't getting crazy about it) but it is a heck of a lot better than most of the other junk people wind up putting in their bodies. If you are responsible about it (I.E. Don't drive or anything like that while on it) occasional use for recreational purposes really isn't that bad. I really don't feel bad for the sister because she is ten years old and if she is too much of a brat to follow the simple instructions of Do Not Eat then she deserves what's coming to her. I would say the same thing if it had been brownies with laxatives in it or if perhaps she was allergic to something that had been put in them. Don't get me wrong I don't wish her death or illness anything but things like that are Darwinism at their finest. She is ten years old, should be able to read, and has no right taking something that doesn't belong to her. I don't care if she is a kid and they are chocolate, they weren't hers to take. That having been said I do believe that the OP should have hid them in her room or something because you can never be entirely sure of what might happen in these cases.

Right. Because if you were ten years old and brownies were laying around, you'd obey a "Do Not Eat" sign. She got to the point of unconsciousness and she deserves it for being tempted?

That's not being tempted that is being a little pig as she ate half of a batch of brownies. When I was ten I didn't eat stuff that had notes about not eating it even when I was tempted. There were quite a few cakes, brownies, cookies, and the like that made it out of the house with out me ever touching them simply because I did not look at the note on them and go "Well that doesn't actually apply to me". In any case yes she was unconscious all that means is she ate the brownies and fell into a deep sleep as a lot of people who use pot do. That is why it's so good for the insomniacs.

*In any case, yes, she was unconscious all that means is she ate the brownies and fell into a deep sleep as a lot of people who use pot do.* Dang errors.

Alcohol kills more braincells MermaidSong, plus it affects others. I've yet to see an angry stoner beating the crap out of someone or driving recklessly putting others lives in danger. If you're that curious as to what the appeal of being high is why don't you fly to a country that's more civilized than yours where it's legal and try some?

I can honestly say that when I was 10 (and even younger) I would not eat something with a sign on it that says "DO NOT EAT" no matter what it was. Then again, I was raised right apparently.

The replies to #11 are better than the FML.

What everyone don't seem to realize is that nobody follows rules. They just increase your curiosity. It's much more tempting to push a button with a sign saying 'DO NOT PUSH' then one with nothing on it.

most people do get curious and tempted but people who actually do it are idiots.

YDI. Dumbass, you should've just hid them in your room, ESPECIALLY if there are children in the house. You are such an irresponsible stoner.

The little sister is stupid for not listening. OP that was really dumb that you left them out in the open when you know there's children around.
