Impressive

Today, I met my boyfriend's parents for the first time. In his front room was a giant parrot. Hoping to impress them, I went over to the bird and began talking to it proving I wasn't scared. Out of nowhere, it's beak clenched onto my nose making it gush blood on the carpet. I was hospitalized. FML

okay, 1. you try to impress your boyfriends parents by.. talking.. to a .. bird? wow... 2. Did the bird rip open the cage, or did you open the door and shove you head in? your life is pretty f***ed

I just have to say, it makes me laugh really hard that the advert on the side of this page is for some fancy parrot cage.

Man, that's so weird, because parrots NEVER bite anything that's shoved in front of them. Too bad you got bitten, because I would have been soooo impressed had you talked to the bird without being hospitalized. Honestly, what is this world coming to when wild birds are ravaging our teenage women who just want to impress people.

ffs, you don't put your face up to an undomesticated animal.

i'm all for trying to make a good impression on the parents, but you're still an idiot. hahahaha

Yeaaah, those guys'll get you pretty bad. My best friend owns a macaw I hold and play around with quite a bit, but once they're in a bad mood, we both know they can literally chew your finger off. You have to be prepared for that. Still, you must've had your face pretty damn close to him to not be able to pull away in time.

Lol that's a smart idea, get your face THAT close enough to the parrot that you get caught by its beak. I suggest you don't do that again when encountering a pet that does not belong to you for the first time. Oh well, bit of a good life lesson there.

#16 yeah, good story out of it. unfortunately, it makes you look like a complete idiot for getting that close. parrots aren't deaf, you can talk to them from a distance ya know.

Why would you be scared of parrots/birds?? I don't like ferrets, one of the little, long, sly bastards bit me on a finder at a pet store before.

Well, with birds you know not to stick your fingers in their cage, but I assume she was just leaning near it and talking softly to the bird. If that's the case, she couldn't have really known. But if the bird was LOOSE, I'd have been a bit scared if it was huge. She was probably just standing near it and the bird lunged.
