Improvise, adapt, overcome

By SomePeoplesKids - This FML is from back in 2012 but it's good stuff - Canada - Okotoks

Today, I walked in on my daughter attempting to iron her pants with a hair straightener. She's 17. FML

Rather clever idea actually.

I do that all the time, it's great for shirt collars and around buttons!

at least she wasnt straightening her hair with an iron

Supposedly that works really well, too.

People used to do that, i am a little young to actually remember, but my mom says they did in the sixties. And watching Laverne and Shirley as a child I vividly remember Laverne ironing somebodies hair. Of course I don't know what setting to set the iron on to do it.

I've done it before. My straightener broke with a section of my hair left to do so I ironed it. Looked better than the rest of my hair.

I've done it. For obvious reasons you have to be extremely careful, but it certainly can be done (not that I would recommend it in the least).

Surprisingly it works really well, and saves so much time. Straighten your hair and then your pants. 2 in 1 service !

Why do people think this is a chatroom? Send them a message if you want to say hi...

Its worth a try ... :D Do you own an iron though? Maybe she was just trying to speed up the process :)

I hope it worked better than the time my little sister put clothes in the microwave cause the dryer "didn't work fast enough."

I do this if I'm in a rush. More so with material belts for dresses than whole pairs of pants but still, it does work. And it's actually quite safe as the straighteners will most have safety devices like temperature limits and automatic cut outs if they're left on or get too hot unlike a lot of irons.

It works, actually. One time the dryer didn't dry out my jeans fully do I used my hair straightener to dry wet patches, and at the same time, got rid of a ton of wrinkles. Not the most time efficient but it got the job done.

YDI for raising a resourceful kid. It's actually effective for creases near the edge of clothing

At least she isn't telling you and complaining to iron her clothes for her..

Hey, it works. Might not be as fast, but it does work. Trust me, I did it earlier than that.

It works in a pinch! Just like a blow dryer for drying.
