Good fight try again
It is trespassing it's a total violation of your personal space. Your landlord or his agent had no right to enter your premise, even if they do own that property it does not matter, that is the whole point of you renting it. He should not be able to evict or press charges if he tries to tell them exactly what happened
Actually no it isn't. For two reasons (this FML was posted from the UK so UK law applies). 1) The landlord has the right to enter the property depending on the reason. Randomly popping round is not a valid reason for forced entry. But carrying out inspections is a valid reason. 2) The UK doesn't have trespassing laws. So it isn't trespassing.
I've done a little quick research and found many references to trespass as both a civil and criminal act in the UK. Specifically in the Criminal Law Act of 1977 and later in the Criminal Justice and Public Order act of 1984.
We dont.. Have trespass laws? Where the hell are you? Scotland has "right to roam" but that doesn't extend to your living room and in England you can't even go walking wherever you feel like, because you'd be trespassing on farmers land. Also no, inspections don't negate the 24 hour notice period. Nothing does. Tenants rights dude.
When I rented I always assumed that the land lord would pop in at any time even though they aren't suppose to. It gave me inspiration to buy asap.
Everything goes out the window in court once you make it known that he made an illegal entry.
What happened to then? We passed then. When? Just now. We're at now now. Go back to then. When? Now. Now? Now. I can't. Why? We missed it. When? Just now. When will then be now? Soon.
Everyone's talking about convictions and evictions. Maybe neither will happen. Maybe if they truly weren't allowed entry, they won't press anything. So what I want to know is how long is your lease? Will you be looking for a new home around this time in 1 or 2 years? Perhaps they'll do their best to ensure you can't continue living there.
sounds like one of those YOLO moments O_o
first off for the people saying "you cant get into trouble because they went in there illegally" the only way that can be true is if they were cops. to make this even more true, they had to have no reason to suspect anything was going on in the first place. if the land lord have had people from their building say "i think so-and-so has pets and i think someone else is also living there" the landlord has every right to go and see wtf is going on. how do i know this? my family owns a place that we rent out, in the contract that the people sign it says we have a right to go in with out permission if "we" think something is up or have been told things have been happening. i say YDI because you have pets when you KNEW you shouldnt have
If you expect your landlord to abide by the rules, so should you. No sympathy. YDI.
Did you really post an FML about getting busted for doing things you aren't supposed to be doing? BTW, why should they adhere to the agreements in the lease you signed, if you don't? Just sayin', you aren't in the right here.
It's not the lease it's the law, although admittedly OP wasn't adhering to that either...

It doesn't matter how many illegal things he was doing. Anything seen or any evidence was taken illegally and you cannot be prosecuted through it.
I bet if he passes that joint everything will be fine!
