By HELP - This FML is from back in 2012 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, I moved into a new house. The landlord insists it's OK for her to come up whenever she wants because she owns the house. We aren't allowed to lock the doors and she has two 8-year-olds. They come into the bathroom every time they hear the shower running. We have a clear shower curtain. FML

No. No it's not okay. If I'm not mistaken that's illegal for her to do.

Put a chair in front of the door. That will keep them out. It's not a lock...

It doesn't matter if she owns the house - that doesn't mean you have to forfeit your basic human right of privacy. If this was Aus, that woman would be in so much trouble.

I lend and I can't imagine doing and expecting something so stupid! Nice treating your customers is a basic rule. OP get the hell out of there and find normal people not some assholes..

Your landlord is wrong, lock the doors and pint this out (as others have) that barging in whenever she feels like it is illegal)

Woww freakin lil perverts.. Shit I gave my landlord a new one cuz she gave the handyman the keys to my apt. **** the at the end of the day rather u look like a bitch or not it's a safety issue no one has any right to come in to ur home.

Your in the states? Do you not have a landlords tenant act!!!!!??? Says that your intitled to have the door locked, and she needs go give you 24hrs to enter premises for matters of the house only!

They are not allowed to do that...I would advise you to find another place.

If she has her landlord license its illegal for her to do that. Call the police station

This sucks for you OP. Fyl. However, this was probably something you could've found out by asking her. I can solve one problem quickly, get a non clear shower curtain?

Tell your landlord you will leave the doors unlocked. Also tell them you own a gun and and have the legal right to shoot trespassers on sight.

Opaque shower curtain. Case closed. For those blathering about the landlady's "right of re-entry," those laws often consider the nature of the property. Those laws are much different if you live in her house compared to if you live in big building she owns and manages.
