By HELP - This FML is from back in 2012 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, I moved into a new house. The landlord insists it's OK for her to come up whenever she wants because she owns the house. We aren't allowed to lock the doors and she has two 8-year-olds. They come into the bathroom every time they hear the shower running. We have a clear shower curtain. FML

No. No it's not okay. If I'm not mistaken that's illegal for her to do.

Put a chair in front of the door. That will keep them out. It's not a lock...

Check the lease for any of these stipulations. If they're not in their report her to the police as it's not only a matter of your safety but also privacy. If those ridiculous stipulations are there break the lease and move out, but still report her.

i thought landlords had to give 24 hours notice when they want to come over? or is that just in england?

On the other hand, next time you shower, be prepared to flash them something that will frighten and disgust them. I'm thinking broccoli, homework or exercise.

That is totally illegal dear. Talk to legal aide about this because if you signed a lease, it is considered imminent domaine and your property until the leaser reclaims the property.

Um no. Your landlord has to give you notice prior to coming to pay a visit. Look up your states law regarding rentals and then show t to her and lock your fracking door!

OP is saying her money, so its not cheerity.. that landlord need to stfu and mind her own business -.-

Your name just says it all.. Just saying!!

That's illegal for her to not allow you to lock your doors. And those 2 children are not only intruding into your home but invading your privacy. I would be addressing that with her if I were you. Just because she owns the building, doesn't make your rented space that you pay good money for hers to invade. Next time they come in your space uninvited call the police and even social services for her poor supervision of her children.

File for sexual harassment maybe? If possible

You can't file for sexual harassment unless they have physically touched you in your genital areas or rape.

#149 - Non-consensual voyeurism is a sexual offense.

It is not ok for her to come up. When she became a landlord she gave up her right to that part of the house. It's actually illegal so you can file a complaint against her with housing authority
