Meat is murder

Today, my fiancé's parents visited. I keep chickens for their eggs, and his parents own a farm, so we had a connection. They told us to leave the house while they cooked us dinner. When we returned, we faced two steaming plates of chicken. My chickens. They had names. FML

i feel for you, im a fellow veg, i just hope my parents dont start eyeing my rabbit.... :]

277 - Monkeys think, dear. Most things with brains do :) And as for being a vegetarian - why are some of you so intent in trying to eat more meat just because some of us don't wish to? Some of us can't for medical or religious reasons. Some of us don't like the taste. Some of us don't like the idea of it in general. Some of us don't like the way animals are treated in the meat industry - as mindless products. Anything with nerves and a brain can think. Fact. Anything with nerves and a brain can feel. Fact. Anything with nerves and a brain IS ALIVE. FACT. Chickens are prey animals, and lower predatory animals. Technically, all prey animals, whether they are predators as well or not, were 'meant to be eaten'. That's why they're prey. But it doesn't mean we can't love them like an average pet. Technically, if you think like 'chickens were made to be eaten', then so were giraffes. As were worms. Ostriches. Camels. Humans too, by the way, not that I'm endorsing cannibalism here.

Although I am quite the meat eater. I believe it's rude to kill a persons animals for dinner without their permission. even if hypothetically the chickens were destined for the pot eventually, they should have asked you.

aw...sorry about your chickens...wait, eggs come from an animal and you still eat it? well, I guess it makes sense.

i can't believe all these douchebags who can't grasp the concept of eating eggs. they are not fertilised when we eat them, a chicken was never going to hatch!

wow, that's horrible.... I would have been like "get the **** out! you just killed my pets!"

Love your Logic!!! Will you eat anything that you "consider" edible regardless of who it belongs??? You will get very far in life, I can tell...

I'll bet you felt like the chickens felt as you harvested and ate their potential offspring.

I raised hens. They will gladly eat their own eggs. Seriously, go to a farm with hens sometime and drop a nice fresh egg on the ground and let it break. They will fight over who gets to eat it and run off with bits of the shell and go crazy trying to get every last bite. Even mostly-developed fertilized eggs get the same treatment. Sometimes already-hatched chicks too. And chickens will eat cooked chicken if given the chance, mine have fought over leftovers we threw to the dog. Seriously, don't run your mouth off unless you have actual experience dealing with a situation that would give you some modicum of knowledge about what you're trying to speak of.
