Today, I was hanging with my boyfriend. When his mom came to pick him up, he introduced me. She talked to me politely and I thought we hit it off very well. As I was walking away, I heard her say, "That's your new girlfriend? Honey, you could do so much better." FML

I don't know if you did anything "wrong". Maybe you came off as standoffish (which could be because you were nervous and didn't know her). Maybe she's just a bitch. I don't know. Let's just hope that either a) your boyfriend doesn't bow/bend to what mama thinks or b) you dump his ass (as in stop associating with him altogether) before he dumps you.

depends on how your BF responded if he defended you or was like "mom, wtf?" then don't worry too much about it cuz she's a bitch if he didn't say anything, dump him immediately cuz he's an asshole

to the people who say she should have waited til the girlfriend was out of earshot: would it have been better if the mom were just fake and pretended to like the gf when in reality she was just talking shit on her? my boyfriend's mom is like that and i wish that she had the courage to admit to me that she doesn't like me instead of pretending she does and then just talk all this shit about me behind me back. and it pisses me off to no end.

It is so funny that the people correcting the others' grammar keep making mistakes. I get where they're coming from and all, but seriously? Parents, specially mothers are overprotective and always overrate their children, so don't take it too seriously. And if you really do lack in appearance make sure to make up for it in bed. ;)

Awww, that sucks. His mother's opinion doesn't matter at all. Sure it's nice to have their blessings/approval but it's not needed. The only opinion that matters is yours and your boyfriend and if you're his girlfriend he obviously thinks you're very special.
