Today, I met my girlfriend's parents for the first time over dinner. In order to make a good impression I was as polite as possible and tried to be as engaging as I could. Near the end of dinner my girlfriend's mom says, "I liked your old boyfriend better." FML

I don't know if you did anything "wrong". Maybe you came off as standoffish (which could be because you were nervous and didn't know her). Maybe she's just a bitch. I don't know. Let's just hope that either a) your boyfriend doesn't bow/bend to what mama thinks or b) you dump his ass (as in stop associating with him altogether) before he dumps you.

This is great. The grammar talk, I mean. My grammar might not be absolutely perfect since I am German but I make an attempt. I think that is what counts. OP; Don't listen to her and I think it is pretty rude to say something like that. I mean, she can think whatever she wants once she has left the house and even speak it but... that's just horrid manners! I'd say you go to her and say, "he [insert boyfriends name here] could do so much better too. It's a pity he's got you as a mother."
