Today, a police officer showed up to my house and informed me that my boyfriend was killed in an accident. Later, I found out it was a prank set up by a friend. He thought faking his death would be easier than confessing that he was leaving me for someone else. He didn’t want to see me get "upset". FML

Today, I caught my boyfriend of two years cheating on me. Instead of the usual excuses, he panicked and claimed he was my boyfriend's long-lost twin brother. He even tried to put on a fake accent. FML

Today, I opened some junk mail addressed to my fiancé and saw a credit letter about applying for a new mortgage. When I called to tell him his identity was stolen, he admitted he bought a house, and then broke up with me. I had no clue he was unhappy. FML.

why the hate? She didn't say he succeeded, only that he TRIED to fake his own death. It is not like she has believed this months over months. As for HOW he did it... how is she supposed to explain this within the character limit of an FML? My ex has done the very same thing. Faked his own death (he was in the army, living in Italy, where I was supposed to follow six months later), so it was easier for him. He faked his own death, and only because I snooped around in his email account one day (to delete it) did I realize he was living the good life with his new millionaire girlfriend. Sometimes life is just that: absolutely and utterly unbelievable

#14 Yep, I agree...happened to a friend of mine too! Her fiancé was in the Army as well, stationed in Germany where she's also from and he told her he'd be deploying to Iraq, when really he was being sent home to the States. He played deployment for a while and had her send him packages to his APO address and stuff like that and after about 5 or 6 months he had a buddy of his e-mail her saying that he was killed in action...idiot proof plan, but his downfall was that he wasn't a born US citizen but of Romanian decent and had just been naturalized about a year before he met his fiance...so we googled the name of his Unit and a bunch of articles came up in Romanian newspapers about him, we typed his rank, full name and hometown into myspace in different combinations and voilà, there he was...alive and healthy... So it is definitely possible...some people have some messed up ideas...

Jezus, I'm so sorry! Screw him. I had a guy tell me he was still traumatized over a fictional girlfriend who'd killed herself, instead of tell me he didn't want to go out with me (he later admitted it to all our friends... good times.)
