No signal

By XxFA1LxX - This FML is from back in 2012 but it's good stuff - Canada - Calgary

Today, my neighbors bought a signal scrambler to stop their kids from going on the internet at night. Too bad it blocks my internet too. FML

A scrambler, really? Has your neighbour ever heard of passwords and parental control? It's not that hard.

Woah a scrambler? It's not that hard to block Internet access for kids

As long as you arent leeching internet off your neighbours, it is illegal for them to block your internet access, as it is yours and have every right to enjoy the service you pay for. And if they were any kind of half decent parents, they can find another way of monitoring or parenting their child that will not interfere with other peoples services, such as taking their modem off the internet jack when they want.

That's illegal...well at least in the U.S it is...tell the cops lol

You should go back to dial-up. It's really the most secure connection money can buy. All this wi-fi crap is too fast and confusing anyways. The only bad part is the delay. I submitted this comment when there were only 3 comments showing.

So, the OP should give up fast Internet for the slow stuff? Mhm. Smart decision there.

As long as you use https instead on http you will be ok.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that OP is trying to say that they were using their neighbors wifi. At least that's what it looks like to me :)

Nope. They literally have scramblers that block Internet signals within a given radius. Not really legal in an urban environment where it could affect the neighbors but still... They have 'em.

Was your comment necessary #51?

I'm not sure how it it is there in Canada, but here in california there are laws against that. He can't use it if it's messing up someone else's connection. I'm sure you could go to your county office and report him. He'd probably get a fat fine.

Radio signals in the U.S. are under the jurisdiction of the FCC. There's probably a parallel agency in Canada--Canadian Radio and Television Commission, IIRC? In any event it's a crime to interfere with the transmission and reception of someone else's radio signals and a complaint to the CRTC about the interference might get some action.

You need to tell her that. Then if she doesn't fix the problem you should report it to your super if you live in an apartment or to the local authorities.

It's called a password to block it and parental control. Sorry OP sounds like you need a descrambler .. Lol
