Pizza is legally a vegetable according to the U.S. congress ruling
This reminds me of people with "gluten allergies". I work at a restaurant and when we get a ticket that's states "gluten allergy" we have to change gloves and put down special surfaces so ad not to contaminate their food. We'll often get orders for stuff that has an ingredient in it that clearly has gluten in it, or they may not know has gluten in it. So we have to tell the server who then goes to inform them that said ingredient has gluten, 9 times out of 10, "they said it's fine". Really?! If you're not allergic don't say you are! It really disrupts the work flow, particularly when we're in the middle of a rush!
Someone who is actually allergic to gluten (my dad has a chance of dying from eating gluten) should know what gluten is in, so they don't slow down cooks, ect, ect.
I'm allergic to gluten. According to my Docter. I got diagnosed at 20 years old after eating gluten 3 times a day every day without a problem. The only reason they found out is because I was deadly allergic to some kind of insect and combined with all my other allergies (yes, one of those allergic-to-everything-people) my docter finally asked for a broad-spectrum search of all my allergies in the hospital. Still don't know what I'm deadly allergic to... but anyhow. Depending on what gluten I eat, I notice a difference from slightly more gas up to kinda-like-period-cramps (bread-pains). I'm trying not to eat gluten because most of the damages are long-term on the inside. But it's hard because I don't get that instantaneous reminder that HEY YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO EAT THAT that I get with the other stuff. I've only been diagnosed for 2 years, I still find out that stuff that I replaced my gluten with apparently also has gluten. I try, I'll write down I have gluten allergy in the restaurant, but if after extensive looking through the menu for something that doesn't have gluten (do you people know just how much???), the waiter would come back with the message that it also has gluten, there are some days that I'll just say **** it. Especially if the alternative is just a salad. Doesn't mean I'm not allergic, just means that most people with gluten allergy barely have any instant reaction. The dad from the comment somewhere above me is an exception.
I have celiac disease. And it's not funny at all. If people say they have a gluten allergy it doesn't matter how many people you've had orders for where they aren't serious about it. If you get a gluten allergy order you need to take it seriously. I will literally get cancer, become infertile, get diabetes, lose my hair skin and teeth, and the list goes on and on of things that happen to me from a tiny amount of gluten. Don't treat this like a joke. It's ignorant and can ruin someone's life.
Just so you know, the dad isn't the expection he's the norm. And millions of people have celiac disease, which is much more serious than a gluten allergy. Please don't talk about things that you don't have complete knowledge on. I have celiac disease and a crumb of gluten will cause my cells in my intestines to attack eachother for a minimum of 6 months before they heal. You're lucky that you don't have that problem and that you have a minimal reaction, but there are millions of people who have sever gluten allergies and celiac disease that will kill them.
I know about celiac disease, it's still a super rare disorder. However, as I said, in the kitchen it is my job to take it seriously, because if we didn't and something were to happen, obviously we would be liable. But there's a HUGE difference between "allergic" and a "preference". If you ring in an allergy we change our gloves, prepare your food on a gluten free surface, we have designated utensils we use and we absolutely can not handle something with gluten while handling an allergy order. It takes time away from the rest of the team, and if people with ACTUAL allergies, such as yourself, were to ring in allergy orders we would see a lot less of them. C: I don't, however, take an allergy order seriously once they are informed an ingredient has a gluten and they want it anyway.
Also if someone ONLY gets gassy from eating gluten then I'd imagine that they probably could handle an insignificant amount of gluten contamination e.g. using the same gloves I used on some bread, or a surface that I've wiped down for your order that came in contact with bread. I highly doubt that is enough to make anyone bloated or gassy or crampy etc. I also find it hard to take it seriously, but don't get me wrong, I still do handle it seriously, when a whole family rings as gluten allergy, celiac is just not that common to afflict an entire family.
The amount of stupid here.... Clearly she needs to read about health. And IDGAF if this comment gets a ton of dislikes
no one wants 2 to give up pizza
Just ignore her - as best you can, considering she'll probably be plenty loud about it. But who cares? She probably won't see any results when she choses to be so thickheaded.
But pizza is basically: grains, vegetables, and dairy :) so it's healthy, right?
Lol jokes on her. I have celiac disease that forces me to eat gluten free and I just laugh whenever people tell me they are trying to not eat that to lose weight. It doesn't work At all
Ha, she probably makes more than you. Even worse.
