classic response from an american...
Sure, but she's a clueless 14 year old American.
How the hell can the OP sue??? He broke the law and got caught. The cop would win in 2 seconds.... Also this is not a typical response from a American. So stfu with your stereotypes.
agree with 55
Life is stereotyped. So what? Here, let's throw some more in: Classic response for a/an: American of other continent descent Child Teenager Female Person of color Person who sticks tongue out Person in North America Person in New World Bisexual Person who wears makeup Person who visits fmylife.com Person who calls other people names Also, the most reckless drivers I've ever seen were cops. They may be immune to the laws of man, but eventually, the laws of physics will find them.
touché :)
Also, the most reckless drivers I've ever seen were cops. They may be immune to the laws of man, but eventually, the laws of physics will find them. ^ You win five internets. Also, this cop, like most cops, are assholes. They will ticket you right after they do the same thing, or ticket you and do the same thing five minutes later. I get that it is necessary to speed in emergencies, and other such things, but the OP didn't say the cop was rushing off to an emergency. He probably missed the doughnut shop or something. But the OP is also pretty dumb for copying the illegal action of a cop, right in front of said cop. Would you rape someone with a plunger because you saw a cop do it?
unless his lights were on, he is supposed to follow all the same traffic laws...
not true, lights are not always used when responding to a call...hence the name "emergency signals"
my point exactly... if the cop had his lights flashing and made a uturn do u think we would all be having this conversation? ...unless he STILL got a ticket in that scenario lol
there is no monkey see monkey do with cops. ydi for thinking your equal.
like it or not this is the way it is. everyone seems so quick to judge the police. imagine this world without the police. you critics would be the last ones complaining if the cop were performing an illigal uturn while responding to a call that YOUR sh!t is being broken into.
We don't have to imagine. We have East L.A.
In most places I've lived, emergency services can do things that normal drivers can't, and in some cases it's written right on the signs 'U-turn prohibited except for emergency services'. Of course there are limits, and cops sometimes get prosecuted for violations, but generally it's OK. Think of it another way - if you saw an ambulance speeding on the wrong side of the road, does that suddenly mean you can do it too? If a cop starts shooting at someone, can you just whip out a gun and have a crack yourself?
In an area that may be marked 'no u-turn' cops may make the turn as they are an emergency vehicle.
hmm bad grammer on an FML and doing a illegal turn right next to a cop....OP u don't seem to be the smartest crayon in the crayon box.
lol owned
Too...much...irony...for me to...handle... /head asplode
... Why the hell do English-speaking people ALWAYS use the word "irony" when it's everything BUT irony? Irony is saying the contrary of what you mean. Ex: "Yes, blue hair really suits you..." Is it some kind of new trend? Never heard people in my country misuse the word.
Irony is not just sarcasm; irony also means that an outcome is the opposite of what is expected. It's ironic that he commented on the OP's bad grammar, when in fact the OP's grammar was fine but his was terrible.
#93 - Ironically, your example isn't.
Apperently in your country everyone is misusing the word! And that is irony on a national scale.
the example you gave is sarcasm.. good try though!
Sarcasm is a form of verbal irony, as a simile is a type of metaphor. There is also situational irony, or dramatic irony, if used in theatre or literature. 93 must have been referring to the situational irony of the original post, while 106, unaware of this form of irony, offered an example of verbal irony used for sarcasm. In this case, two rights do not make a wrong.
aardvarkish - I can assure you that I'm acutely aware of the difference between verbal irony and sarcasm, and I stand behind the comment.
It just occurred to me that we would that we would need to hear the tone of voice, thus determine intent, to decide whether we had verbal irony and sarcasm at once, or one apart from the other. "Yes, blue hair really suits you..." (tone facetious) implies "Dye it normal, this instant!" -> Sarcasm "Yes, blue hair really suits you..." (tone sincere) implies "I can't wait to see everyone at the party laugh behind your back" -> Verbal Irony "Yes, blue hair really suits you..." (tone insincere for third person audience while hyperbolic to encourage blue haired person to wear this do to the party) implies "Doesn't this blue hair look ridiculous!/Oh don't you look fabulous!/This is going to be a riot!" -> verbal irony and sarcasm together. (Final Comment. Take it as you wish.)
