Out of shape

Today, I decided to work out. Being too embarrassed to run in public, I instead ran in circles in my basement. FML

At least you were running instead of doing nothing. That's probably more than a lot of people can say.

If you're ashamed about being seen jogging because you're seriously overweight, running will probably give you an injury very soon. It would be safer to start with low-impact training, like cycling, swimming, taking long walks, walking up stairs or walking/stepping on a machine in the gym. It might take more time to get results, but you would look more dignified, too.

What Epikouros said. Also, if you're just self conscious generally, maybe you should consider buying gym equipment so that you can work out 'properly' in your own home.

Gym equipment generally just becomes an expensive clothes rack. Take the money you would spend on that and work with a personal trainer. Then you have someone to be accountable to and it helps a lot.

Its okay OP dont be ashamed people exercise in their house all the time .hence the existence of treadmills and such :P

Don't worry about it, the douchebags at the gym that you think are laughing at you are usually too self absorbed to look at anyone but their reflection in the mirror anyway!

This isn't an FML, I run in my house everyday because i like to use the wii-fit to track my time and i have actually lost over 2 stone since I started. It's best to have a natural breeze though so if you don't have any windows in your basement you might want to make some space to run in other rooms of the house to make sure it's well ventilated.

Good thinking, you probably could not obey all the rules of the road if you waddled in public. Do you have the Day-glo Orange shorts that say CAUTION: WIDE LOAD across the ass?

Dude, it's Canada. We see weirder shit here so often that it's no longer weird. Go to a park. Enjoy the scenery, and feel better
