Sneaky

By Anonymous - This FML is from back in 2013 but it's good stuff - United States - Piscataway

Today, I asked a traffic cop if it was okay to park my car briefly in a 'Monday to Friday only' parking spot, since it's Saturday. She politely replied I could. I came back less than ten minutes later, only to find a parking ticket stuck to my windshield. FML

She said you could park there not that she wouldn't give you a ticket.

Maybe the idea of sarcasm wasn't the best choice. Sorry Op

Lesson learned: word your questions correctly. You can't just ask if you are able to, of course you COULD. You should have asked if you would get a ticket if you parked there. Might have saved you money.

I agree. Where I'm from this is how we talk when we're amongst friends. The Queen's English is usually reserved for more formal settings.

Sounds like an easy dismissal to me. It said mon-fri, you parked on a Saturday. Doesn't matter which cop wrote it, they were dumb for doing so.

you will notice that bylaw officers and parking enforcent is a lot more anal than a traditional cop, the orig cop prob left not giving a **** while rent a cop gets a hard on writing you up

She never said you wouldn't get a ticket

Honestly it may not be her fault. Where I work I work a traffic job and get blamed for giving tickets all the time, yet it's parking services not me. So even though I said it was ok parking services doesn't care...could be a similar situation.

the words the cop said "I could" probably meant that "as a cop they could" not meaning that "you could"..

First of all: 10 minutes is not "briefly". Second: You ask a cop if you can break the law, because you are too lazy. And then you're surprised you get a ticket ? LOOL :D
