Special day

Today, it's my long-anticipated 21st birthday! Today also happens to be the first day of my period. I've spent the whole morning in the fetal position with agonizing cramps, reduced to tears, and whimpering while the painkiller refuses to kick in. Happy birthday! Love, my uterus. FML

Oh honey, I know exactly how you feel. I get them worse than anyone I know. Feel better. =[

Oh goodness, I've had my period (with crippling cramps and nausea) on my birthday pretty much every year since I got my period. It's hell. I know how you feel...it does suck. Oh and #3...I think she means the first day of THIS particular period.

Aww sweetie that's horrible! *hugs* I think there is a birth control that helps with "PMDD" ? It is called "Yasmin" here in Canada, but I think it is called "Yaz" in the U.S. I use to have really bad cramps when I was younger so when I was 14 my mom took me to the hospital to see if there was anything that they could do and they put me on Yasmin and it has helped a lot. I still get cramps but not near as bad as I used to.

Lol awww!!! Ibuprofen works really well. Take some and lie down for a little while, you'll feel much better. And happy birthday! And #3, it's the first day of her period, the worst of them all.

It's totally possible to have extremely bad cramps for no reason other than it being your period. This exact thing has happened to me and there's nothing physically wrong. It's just that some periods are worse than others. I only have them that bad once or twice a year, but when they're like that, it's hell. They used to make me throw up too, but I'm able to handle them better now that I'm older.

OK, I also have nauseating, pass out, puke, lying in the fetal position cramps. My first period was on my 12th birthday, and I have been on my period for every single birthday and Christmas since then, PLUS my high school (white gown) and college graduations. I ALSO don't take drugs, not even OTC painkillers. And STILL, none of that makes it an FML. It's just a birthday. Grow up.

Ummm...how about you try birth control pills. You know it's not just for preventing pregnancy right? HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Oh and another thing. It's called drinking the pain away. Unfortunately you never thought of any of these.

Aw, that sucks.... I had some like that before. It was my 1st period after I'd gotten after starting the pill. Have you had 'em like that before or was this the first time?

#223, sorry we can't all have the rationalized holier that thou attitude. But maybe her birthday was important to her.... Otherwise she wouldn't have put "long-anticipated." This place is about venting, not being critized for being dissapointed over something you can't control. And just because you choose not to take painkillers, it doesn't make you a better person that anyone else. And it's not her fault for wanting to have a good time one her birthday.

wow 21? i am sorry. that ****** sucks.

I have passed out many times because of my periods and have paralysing cramps more than any one should ever experience (and I have seen doctors, am on the pill and take painkillers, but it still doesn't do much, I still pass out...). I also suffered from anaemia, became dangerously underweight and missed about a third of my senior year of high school because of it. I was told to harden up by many people including my family members, or told that my condition was all in my head (even with doctors certificates proving the opposite). However, first signs of a cold and I am told to go to bed (even when I am fine and just have a runny nose), I am being pampered and fed chicken soup. Why do so many people believe that girls should shut up about some conditions but not about others? I feel sorry for you girl that it happened on your 21st. Happy birthday anyway!
