Special day

Today, it's my long-anticipated 21st birthday! Today also happens to be the first day of my period. I've spent the whole morning in the fetal position with agonizing cramps, reduced to tears, and whimpering while the painkiller refuses to kick in. Happy birthday! Love, my uterus. FML

Oh goodness, I've had my period (with crippling cramps and nausea) on my birthday pretty much every year since I got my period. It's hell. I know how you feel...it does suck. Oh and #3...I think she means the first day of THIS particular period.

STFU, STFD AND TAKE SOME MIDOL. IT HAPPENS EVERY ******* GIRL.

If it makes you feel any better, for my 24th birthday I spent a majority of my day alone, and when I Did hang out with someone it was my with my now ex-girlfriend, and her best friend... who did nothing but make fun of me for the remainder of the day... my girlfriend just laughed... At least there is medication for you to not feel like shit... unfortunately, you aren't going to get any birthday sex, also like me... On the bright side, there are more birthdays, and hopefully next year you wont be surfing the crimson wave.

#179 is right. I'm more inclined to believe that the people saying "suck it up" are mostly female, because while guys don't know what period cramps feel like, we know that we don't know what they feel like and thus wouldn't be in a position to say anything. But there are probably a bunch of girls who think that all period cramps are the same. OP, sorry about the suckage. My girlfriend has had to deal with the "can't move for days" variant; she usually ended up having to take multiple painkillers (because she'd throw up a bunch) and trying to sleep it off, until she started taking birth control, which helped a lot. I'd suggest this, as others have done.

Eek I'm sorry! And everyone who says you deserve it or suck it up should be forced to live through cramps like these. I suggest "The Pill." It reduces cramps and you can control when you're period comes, so no more sitting at home on your birthday!

lol @ #3 i UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU'RE GOING THROUGH! I really didn't mean for tat to be all caps but I'm too lazy to re-type it. Just hang in there!

I woke up on my 21st birthday being told my uncle hung himself the night before. I WIN!

take the pill, takes care of all that. people are idiots for refusing to take it - it's a gift from God. I truly believe that.

ouch... seriously, to everyone telling her to "suck it up" - I guess you've never spent a whole day (or two) in bed with a hot waterbottle , high on painkillers and still in so much pain you couldn't get up I envy all the girls who don't get cramps, or can get rid of them with some mild painkillers
