Haha, how cruel! I honestly feel like if this were my family, after the initial shock and anger, this would be funny for everyone involved.
Your parents have the same sense of humour as mine. Congrats.
You deserve it,, you sound like a spoiled brat. MUMMY BUY ME AN IPHONE!! I WANNNIT I WANNIT I WANNIT
LOL O totally read this from my iPhone!
The point of the FML is that the parents are assholes for tricking him buy putting a cheap item in the box of something he really wanted. They could have easily just said "sorry, but we can't afford it"
Wow, you're an asshole, give that gift card to someone who appreciates it you spoiled brat.
wow i love how most of you are being assholes and not seeing that the point of the FML is that his parents pretended to give him something he wanted but really didnt just so they could get a giggle out of it.
oh my god. everybody chill the **** out. note that the OP was "ecstatic" when he thought he had received an iphone, not merely "satisfied" because he had demanded or expected it. of course it's mean to get someone's hopes up and then crush them, and the FML here has nothing to do with not receiving an iphone.

That isn't funny. But a 10 dollar iTunes gift card is something. Something is better than nothing
I don't know about that guys. I'm thinking the FML is more that they acted like they were getting her the phone by giving her the box but didn't. She has obvious reason to be disappointed as opposed to them just saying no which would still disappoint but not half as much. Wouldn't you be sad if you unwrapped a present and was all "OMG you got me the new *whatever*! You shouldn't have" Then you open it's..a Itunes card. As opposed to it just being "Wow, Itunes card, sweet!"
