Thanks, son

Today, I was supposed to catch a 4:40 flight to New York. My 5 year-old son handed me my carry on bag as I left the house. Turns out he had put his older brother's BB gun into my bag to "keep me safe." I missed my flight after I was detained and strip-searched. FML

It sucks when kids do stuff like that, but they really don't know any better. Best is to tell them that they've done wrong, and hope that they won't do it again.

Hope you got compensation or put on another flight for free :/

At least you know that your son cares about you enough that he wants you to be safe, xD

I always thought, "have your bags been out of your possession?" was a stupid question... Guess not. I agree with the comments before me - your FIVE YEAR OLD shouldn't have access to a BB gun. Haven't you ever seen A Christmas Story? "You'll shoot your eye out!"

BAH! #22! I wanted to come in and do that quote :( But yes, OP, YDI.

Oh my God, 22 JUST beat me to the Christmas Story reference. Although mine wasn't going to be a high-and-mighty you-suck-at-child-rearing post, it was going to be - At least he didn't shoot his eye out?

sounds like one 5yo is deserving of a beatdown....jk, but kids get into everything, so no matter where the gun was hidden the kid could have found it...

That's kind of cute and all.. but that really sucks.

Don't worry about the kid with the gun, natural selection tends to sort things out :D

His 5yr old child shouldn't have access to a bb gun but that's the older sons fault. Dude that has to suck really hard but hey, gotta love the airports!

This isn't as cute as everyone is making it out to be. "Cute" would be if he gave his dad a lucky charm or "magical ring" to protect him. If a 5 year old's first instinct is to pack heat before heading out of the house, there is a problem somewhere.

Jeeze, it was an honest mistake. But that was sweet of your boy, he doesn't really know better, yet. I definitely don't think YDI, though. Lots of kids have bb guns, it's just raising your children so they know to be careful. Not everyone's children are stupid and foolish enough to shoot someone point blank/in the eye.

your comment is the first one that is good all these other people are a bunch of tight assed loser that are mad cause they didnt have a bb gun at 5!
