There goes the neighborhood

By LukeyBoy - This FML is from back in 2011 but it's good stuff - United Kingdom

Today, I was walking down the road when a twat on a quad-bike smashed into my leg. It seems that I should've been "walking on the right side of the pavement." FML

You got hit by a talking ******? It's ironic that the ****** acted like a douchebag.

I don't want to get hit by a car, it's too mainstream. Im ahead of everyone, I hit cars before they hit me. Also I secretly like to lick their windows. But that just between you and me.

Should have been walking on the right side of the pavement. Unless u want to get hit.

The reason you walk on the left side is so you can see oncoming traffic. If you walked on the right side, then you'd probably had to walk backwards, just in case your ex wants to ram over your ass.

The guy in the comment is from the uk so walking on the left is normal (I think). In the us we all walk on the right. Confusion solved.

Actually in the uk you are meant to walk into oncoming traffic- the left- because drivers can see you better that way.

The "twat" in question should not have been riding their quad on the pavement in the first place unless a bike lane was clearly marked. On the other hand, some people follow the same directional rules for the pavement as well. So, since you live in England, and traffic is on the left side.....they could have rung their bell to tell you to get out of the way/move to the right. This is somewhere in between FYL and YDI. You are both right and wrong.

Surely a bell on a quad bike would struggle to fulfill it's purpose.

30, you are correct. What I meant was horn (although bell sounds more british). But the point is that the quad should not have been on the pavement to begin with, and since it was coming from behind, it should have averted the OP of its presence (although you would think the noise would make noticeable).

Especially more noticeable if it was enthusiastically sounding a bell.

You should kick his ass, with your good leg.

Awww, no pervy comment today? ;(

When boner says "good leg," he's referring to the OP's middle leg. The perviness was baked right into that comment.

So he should kick the twat's ass with his middle leg? .. Butt sex ?

What a dumbass! He honestly thinks it would be better for you to walk on the wrong side of the road?

They live in England, traffics on the left.

Is it not polite to run people over with atv's? I've been doing this wrong. ****.

You should have retorted with, "You will be on the WRONG side of my lawyers."

In British English, pavement has the same meaning as sidewalk. So as OP says they were on the pavement, that means the quad-bike will have been on the pavement NOT on the road. Hence the FML.

ydi, youre supposed to walk against traffic...not that makes sense but i guess thats pedestrian law

OP is in Nottingham. Nottinghamshire is littered with roads that don't have paths (or sidewalks as you yanks call them). I know because my dad has a caravan in Nottinghamshire. The quad bike rider really is a twat.
