Time for lunch in the parking lot

By Anonymous - This FML is from back in 2012 but it's good stuff - United States - Cottonwood

Today, I started my first day of work at our local humane society. I asked where the break room was, so my coworker directed me to a small room in the back of the building. The only place I get to take my lunch break is the same room where they euthanize, freeze, and cremate the animals. FML

I will NOT make a joke about taking your work home...I will NOT make a joke about taking your work home for dinner... Oh, DAMMIT!

From a business strategy it's perfect. Your employees will never stop to take a break.

I'm pretty sure that's an OSHA violation. Food generally isn't allowed anywhere there's animals/dead things/chemicals/medical crap, etc. I'm betting she's messing with you.

That is very much against OSHA standards. OP could report them. I can't even have gum at my work or bottled water because of OSHA.

I cry for everything in the movies. Dog, human, Optimus Prime. You name it I cry.

Well maybe you'll lose weight? Only bright side I could find. My friends grandfather owns a furniture store that used to be a mortuary a long time ago. A lot of the mattresses get stored in what used to be the embalming room. The tables are still in there. So are the stains...

Look on the bright side, you can warm up your food very easily.

Would someone please explain to me how this is a YDI?

That has got to be breaking a health code. I would report that. I worked for a company that used our lunch room as storage and had bottles upon bottles of chemicals and cleaning supplies laying around sometimes without lids.

How is that even sanitary?? O.S.H.A. Needs to get In on that and find out what's going on. That could be a huge lawsuit.

Exactly! Unless of course the coworker was pulling OP's leg and that really isn't their break room.

Why do I get the feeling the co-worker was trying to prank you? At least, I really hope that was the case.
