Today, a guy from work that I barely know gave me sunflowers for my birthday. He told me, "You mentioned they were your favorite." I mentioned it to my family at home a few days ago. FML

You probably mentioned it at work as well and forgot. Relax.

I love how it took 11 comments for a good one.

How sweet! You should give him a restraining order!

Wow. Total creep status. I'd make a police report. Just incase, he sneaks into your room at night and murders you. Just saying.

A police report for a coworker giving her flowers is a bit much, a simple thank you and future conscientiousness would suffice.

I think killing OP is a bit extreme if OP is getting flowers.

No. Just saying. As it has been mentioned numerous times, she may have well mentioned it work at some point. He remembered and bought her a birthday gift. People need to relax and accept simple gestures like this. If he persists and she is not interested then simply tell him. People need to stop going to extremes for inconsequential things.

Well, I might consider a healthy dose of home protection at this point.

HOLD UP. Maybe the guy is really into you, OP, and asked your family what your favourite flowers were? And then didn't want to admit that he'd asked them so he just said that you'd mentioned it? Don't jump to conclusions! He might be really nice. :)

OP says she barely knows him. How could he: a) be "really into" some rando who doesn't even know him, b) find her family's contact details, and c) go to her family without being a total creep?

You've probably mentioned it to someone else awhile ago and he had over heard. It's not often someone will take to breaking in houses to put up hidden cameras or mics.

why the **** is everyone saying get a restraining order? u might have said something at work to. calm the **** down he did something nice for u.

I seriously doubt that the only time you've ever mentioned that you like sunflowers was at home a few days ago. People mention things like their favorite flower all the time. Somebody tried to do something nice for you and you're being kind of a jerk about it. Just saying.

Seems like an overreaction. Don't assume you're being stalked before you consider all possibilities.
