Religion is like a penis. It is nice to have one, fine to be proud of it... But when you try shoving it down my throat you have crossed the line.
Now, say if I...er, someone wasn't proud of their religion because it just isn't...growing, can this "someone" leave his religion for something bigger...um, I mean more adequate? Or do they find a program out there that may perhaps reveal to them a long-lost ritual that they may daily exercise to increase the growth of their current religion by several inches (and the girth!) and all they have to do is pay a small recurring fee of **$39.99? ...until they're satisfied with the growth and bountifulness of their religion... **Plus taxes where applicable.
and please keep it away from children
57, if a parent truly believes that their religion is the truth why would they not tell their kids? On another note, some people like having penis shoved down their throat.
99, if you can show me one person who likes having a penis shoved down their throat unexpectedly and when it is unwelcome, you win. But until then, no.
126 - If people only told jokes they'd invented themselves we'd have nothing but a small number of shit jokes. Telling other people's jokes is how they get around. Deal with it.
Sounds like Indulgences, 43.
I agree with #4. When someone is that ignorant, you should tell them whats what or they can shove it.
What a moron. Pentagrams make great necklaces anyway. Does she not understand the difference between Judaism and Christianity? Most Jews don't believe in Jesus, that's not the same as hating him, but I'm sure all of us FMLers are terrible people who will burn in hell for not sharing the belief of an ignorant, out of line nutjob. She needs some help.
Eh, Jews generally accept Jesus but won't acknowledge him as the Messiah. To them, he's just another prophet. Also, pentagrams are protection against demons so anyone who's hating can shut up.
Exactly right. To clarify, by "believe in" I meant believe to be a higher power, not that they don't believe he existed.
Jesus is not considered a prophet in Judaism. In Islam he is but not Judaism.
I hate ignorant people like this. But I love my Jewish people
I'm a Christian who happens to be Jewish as well. If she were a real Christian, she'd know that there is nothing hateful or satanic about a Star of David. Jesus was Jewish, after all. My mother used to have a necklace of one with a Cross in the middle. And she'd also know the difference between a pentagram and a Star of David...
You go girl. Too bad we're a dying breed. Oh well. If there is a God, we're set. If not, what did we lose living for Him? Keep on and ignore haters. I'm just glad to know there's other Christians out there who aren't all "YOU'RE GOING TO HELL!!!!" Lol
Do you know the origin of the Star of David?
30, Wow. People who have never heard the term "Jew for Jesus" or "messianic jew" thumbing you down. And I bet these are the same people who are calling the woman verbally abusing OP ignorant. Yes, people, Judaism is not just a religion, but a culture and a heritage too. Also Christians believe that Jesus was the Jewish messiah whose coming was prophesied throughout Jewish scripture. Basic Christian theology, people. Christianity is largely based on Jewish scripture. It is possible to keep Jewish tradition and believe in Jesus, since Christianity and Judaism are parallel in many ways. Messianic Jews are simply Jews who believe that Jesus is indeed the messiah their people have been waiting for.
Jews don't believe in a corporeal messiah. Therefore, a man (resurrected or not) cannot be the messiah. Jews for Jesus, or Messianic Judaism is an oxymoron. Yes, Jews can appreciate the insight and wisdom of many of Jesus' teachings- which as stated above are mostly derived from the Old Testament. Jews DO NOT pray to a specific human male. Many Jewish traditions, such as wearing a yarmulke are reminders to practicing Jews that they are not gods- the cap is a literal delineation of heaven and earth. It seems as though messianic Jews are trying to cover their asses on "judgement day" by believing in both. Such a thing is impossible and indicates to me a fragmented and unrealistic belief system.
158, Please explain what gives you the right to tell Messianic Jews that their religion is illegitimate? Messianic Jews can believe whatever they want. If they see no conflict between their Jewish heritage and Christian beliefs then that is their business. Also, shame on you for assuming their religious affiliation is an effort to "cover their asses" rather than a genuine conviction. Now kindly take your prejudice and shove it.
Judaism is a religion, not just a cultural heritage. The idea of Messianic Judaism is innately hypocritical and even insulting to observant Jews. Also, Messianic Jews distribute pamphlets to garner converts, while Judaism doesn't solicit conversion in any way. It's nice to make latkes and be Shomer Shabbos, but those things doesn't make you a Jew. Sure, we can talk about bloodlines and the like but the point is clear: Jesus was a great man and perhaps a prophet. Hashem is The Lord, according to the Torah. I am not bossing people around telling them what to believe, but please - don't call yourself Jewish and ask then me to wear a crucifix so I can reach the world to come. I'm already on my way, thanks.
No, you're not telling people what to believe. You're telling people that their faith is false. Quite frankly, I see little difference between the two.
You know, pentagrams aren't evil. They existed long before 'God' and his son Jesus came into being. It's only been in the last few centuries pentagrams have been associated with darker meanings. If drawn upside down, then it's a bad meaning, other than that, it's not evil.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Wiccans use Pentagrams, right?
Not in an evil way but as a representation of their faith. Something about the elements and how we're all connected.
It stands for the same thing, 5 elements... either point-up OR point-down. The only difference is... point-up you have the heavier elements on top, which smothers the lighter elements on the bottom. The point up also sends the energy back to the heavens, instead of back toward the Earth to replenish it.
Wiccans use pentacles. A pentagram is an upside down pentacle.
Wiccans, Pagans, spiritual people and non-religious people use pentagrams or pentacles (they're the same thing, #70.) It represents the five elements and protection against evil. Satanists use inverted pentagrams.
Prejudice see is just something that's never going to go away. Don't worry OP keep your star of David and don't give up on your religion
A pentagram has 5 points. The Star of David has 6 points. It'd be more understandable if she got it confused with a pentacle but this... they don't even look alike.
