Today, after eighteen years of living with my adoptive parents, I met my biological mum for the first time. She's a forty year old, 300lb American woman who wears 'Twilight' t-shirts and will be spending the rest of her visit to the UK trying to find Robert Pattinson. She says I remind her of herself. FML

The FML here wasn't that this woman was her biological mother as much as that this woman said that OP reminded her of herself, essentially saying she possibly looked like a fat, twilight-addicted American.

all the mother was doing is trying to make a connection. they may not resemble each other in any way, my dad who I haven't seen since I was 3 says that, but everyone else begs to differ. he just has nothing more to say so he comes up with that as a last resort. or maybe it's not that the child resembles the parent, it's that the child is exactly what the parent wanted or imagined their child being like.

Your mother might have lived a lonely and difficult life. The important thing is you have found her and can now get answers and understand why things turned out the way they have. I hope you both have a good relationship together without any complications.

who cares if your mom is over weight. that doesn't mean you should not be thankful that you found her. atleast she cared to come see you even though she's childish. be thankful you met her. there are plenty of adoptive kids who have never met there real parents.
