Today, after finishing work, my friend was having a party next door and my driveway was blocked. I parked 6 houses down and went to the party for 20mins. After coming out after 3 beers, I went to move my car back to my house and go to sleep. I got a DUI for driving 30 feet. FML

You drank 3 beers in 20 minutes and then decided to get behind the wheel? YDI, even for 30 feet.

Should've left your car there and walked home.

I clicked YDI because there really shouldn't be any leeway as far as drinking and driving goes. If you've had alcohol, you simply shouldn't get behind the wheel for any reason. When people start coming up with exceptions to that rule, it undermines its clarity. The line has to be drawn somewhere. However, I also clicked FYL because whoever parked in front of your driveway was extremely rude. That's on par with cutting to the front of a long line at the airport. He should have been towed, or at least ticketed. If he'd had the courtesy to drive to a legal parking spot, you wouldn't even have been in that situation.

6 houses = 30 feet? Those are some ittybitty houses...smurf/hobbit/leprechaun.

FYL. To everyone who put YDI, you guys suck. You don't know this person's tolerance, their age, etc. I'll bet most of your parents get behind the wheel after more drinks than the OP. And yeah the OP could've walked back to their house, but probably had work the next morning, and let's face it why should they be inconvenienced just because their neighbor's stupid friend parked in their driveway. And like someone else pointed out, had they left their car in front of someone else's house, they most likely would have pissed off the other person somehow.

Although alcoholic content to blood level effects people differently, My life has been affected by drunk driving... And I know I am not the only one who has had friends be killed by someone elses mistake. Don't be at it.. 30 feet down the road on one beer is enough to slow down your reflexes just enough to hit a child or another object.. The person could have asked the neighbor to politely move their car... and asked a friend who hadn't been drinking to move the car for them. YDI, But in more ways then one.. If the law let you slide on three beer when you did no damage, then chances are they let someone else slide and will continue to do so until someone does get hurt. They have a no tolerance policy for a reason: tolerance and age are factors in how drunk a person gets, i agree.. But saying that one person can do it, is saying that everyone can do it. Put yourself in someone else's shoes when you drink 3 beer and get behind your wheel. It might not affect your judgment.. But that much affects someone elses.. And chance says: If you can do it, so can they.

Alcohol in the system is alcohol in the system, lady. None of those factors matter. A cop isn't gonna pull someone over after he/she leaves a bar and then figure, "Oh, you look like you can handle it. Carry on." Drinking under the influence is drinking under the influence. It is, indeed, that black-and-white.

yes, they did. My parents admitted it to me. They also taught me why it was wrong. I don't see how my parents making mistakes when they were younger makes this any different though. Wrong is wrong.

If someone gets behind the wheel after more than three beers, they deserve a DUI. No responsible person does that anymore.

Tolerance, age, etc don't really matter if you drink 3 beers in 20 minutes. If your body can handle that, you're an alcoholic.

Dear #109, Your vs. you're...look it up. Too, to and two...also look it up.

shoulda just moved it in the morning...YDI

you lazy dumbfuck. its six ******* houses. why didnt you just walk? you couldve killed someone elseor yourself. or you could have grown a brain and walked down the street. have fun with a DUI on your record asshole.

In response to #57, which stated that: “This thread is full of people with the reading comprehension of a 2-year old. Read and understand the whole thing before posting YDI. 3 beers (not enough to get an adult "drunk" or render them incapable of driving 30 feet), moving his car a few houses down into his drive-way.” I’d like to take a moment that you would have to be the one with the reading comprehension of a two-year-old. Read and understand the WHOLE thing before you comment on other people’s comments. No, three beers is probably not enough to get an adult “drunk” or them him or her incapable of driving 30 feet. In the period of 20 minutes, however, it most certainly is. As an aside, if you’re going to criticize the reading comprehension abilities of others, I suggest you look over your grammatical abilities before opening yourself up to such easy retaliation like that. “…get AN ADULT drunk or render THEM incapable…”. On what planet is this grammatically acceptable? YDI! Under the law, you are not even supposed to get behind the wheel of a motor vehicle if you are under the influence of alcohol. If you had hit and killed a child (or an adult, or a cat, or damaged someone’s property, for that matter) in the course of that 30 feet, what would your excuse have been? “Your 6-year-old can’t really be dead, Mrs. Smith. I was only driving from here to my driveway”. It doesn’t matter. You were driving under the influence. It was irresponsible and you deserve to suffer the consequences.

COPS are so very useless...they should just wait at the precinct and eat doughnuts until something happens. They're never around when the real shit goes down anyway...

Oh yeah, because the thousands of officers killed in the line of duty were obviously just eating donuts. **** you
