My mechanic is always the same way it's like they think that since I don't own an auto shop I've never worked on a car
May I suggest seeing a doctor who's secure enough not to refuse to listen to a suggestion because he's the doctor and you are the patient? Definitely not saying doctors should always go with whatever their patients suggest, but it seems to me that some doctors deliberately go in the opposite direction just to prove themselves smarter than their patient. And that's really stupid, because the patient's anamnesis has a lot to suggest, and the patient him- or herself is a good source there. I hope he actually did rule out pneumonia before telling you it's acid reflux.
Doctors see a LOT of hypochondriacs, and it gets very annoying when they all self diagnose from what they read on the internet. Honestly, OP could very well have acid reflux. My acid reflux caused me to have an infected gall bladder with gallstones and I was positive I was having a heart attack when I went to the ER.
I have asthma that cycles with acid reflux and causes a hellish pain that feels like it's my ling hurting, but it's actually the reflux. I have a friend whose doctor put them on nitro pills for chest pains that actually turned out to be reflux. I sincerely hope that the doctor at least did the "poor man's" pneumonia check to be safe, but I also wouldn't discount the reflux diagnosis.
The esophagus is on the mid-left side of the body. OP said the pain was on the right side. How can acid reflux be affecting an area of the body that the stomach acid can't even get to? The doctor's diagnosis would make sense if the pain was on the left side, but it's not.
The gallbladder is motile in itself, pushing its contents into the small intestine. Furthermore, the gallbladder produces bile acids, so it shouldn't be sensitive to acidity. Also, acid reflux is really called gastroesophageal reflux.
All this talk about getting a new doctor and stuff. How about leaving the diagnoses to the professional and accepting what he said. I've had exactly what op experienced and the doctor gave me the same (according to all the experts in here) "false" diagnoses. Inspite of this, he treated me for reflux and I didn't die of respiratory problems. Who knew? Uh the doctor
Who said she was seeing a proctologist?

Sounds like you should look for a new doctor...
Go to another doctor for a second opinion!
