@61 That's a bold thing to clame, how many doctors have you visited?
It could be acid reflux. I have that and sometimes I get the pain that feels like it is my lungs when it really isn't. If you think you're smarter than a doctor then why did you even bother going?
Because proper diagnosis is important. If its bacterial pneumonia she can have antibiotics--viral will need to run its coarse. Either way--bed rest is needed. You should look up malpractice lawsuits before commenting again...just because they are a "doctor" doesn't mean we know where they graduated at. As in if they were last in the class.
I will say it again. If you think you are smarter than your dr. why would you go? You would be wasting money. I agree that not every dr. is the same on skill level but then you should find a better dr. rather than going to a crappy one and then bitching about your diagnosis because it wasn't the one you wanted to hear. I will also assume that this dr understands that it is not worth his time to give a false diagnosis just to stick it to this guy.
Some insecure doctors hate when you suggest what the problem may be. They spent all this money and years and years in school and become offended when we make "uneducated" diagnosis. Wise doctors know we know our bodies better and will listen. If your doctor does not listen to your concerns FIND A NEW DOCTOR! You don't want a doctor that brushes you off. You'll never feel safe and you're just wasting your money.
IBS and acid reflux are two completely separate conditions.
As a doctor, I can 100% guarantee you that pneumonia does not hurt. I am not saying that you do not have pulmonary pathology, but it is not pneumonia. Nor is it necessarily GERD (gastroesophageal reflux, acid reflux). Either way, I agree that you should seek a second opinion, as it sounds as though your doctor does not listen to you. Regardless of what is going on, I take the time to listen to my patients.
Do you take special pride in embarrasing yourself and the profession to a broader audience?
As a physician, I can say he might think its acid that's causing a aspiration pneumonitis. Which Is not rare. Don't dismiss what he's saying

Sounds like you should look for a new doctor...
Go to another doctor for a second opinion!
