Hey, Im the OP. It is extremely important that you take the pills in order and you CANNOT skip a pill! If you do your hormones can get all wacky and if youre sexually active, you can get pregnant. You only have a set amount of pills in the pack and they dont give any extras.

It is usually very important with birth control to take the correct pill. And if you skip a day you have to double up the next day. Not taking birth control as directed can mess up your cycle.
You should never 'double up'. You take it right when you realize you missed it and use back up protection. Or in this case, just grab the next pill. i would wonder if the pill would be as effective after being in stomach acid and bile.
NEVER double up. Who TOLD you that?!?! Guaranteed way to screw up the hormones even worse.
you are supposed to double up if you miss a day. its in the directions
Woah, no. You should NEVER EVER double up. Taking a double dose of hormones doesn't magically fix not taking any the day before. I've accidentally forgotten I've taken mine for the day, and taken two within an hour, and it gives me cold sweats, vomiting, diarrhea and nausea for a whole day. NEVER double up..
you are supposed to double up with mine and it DOES magically fix it. i have read my directions and i would tag a picture if i could. Youre OBVIOUSLY not a doctor or pharmacist and you should probably know your shit before commenting.
to the people saying "never double up" I'm gonna guess you haven't read the instructions to your birth control in full detail because that's exactly what they tell you to do if you miss one day. Heck I've done that many times. In fact I just did that today. My hormones are never that out of whack. Now if you just had sex and missed a day then doubling up doesn't help. At that point you need to go to pharmacy and get plan B.
No! You never double up! That completely messes up the hormones in your body. I have taken many brands of pills and spoken to MANY doctors. If you forget one, you take it as soon as you remember, then continue on your schedule starting with the next pill. You are seriously wreaking havoc on your body if you are taking two pills at once. No wonder you got sick...
#177 Ive been on several different types over the course of 15 years and they say SPECIFICALLY not to double up.
i didnt take two at once and MY birth control says to double up if you miss a day so saying never double up is ignorant and wrong. i was sick that day thats why i threw up.
Then you need to find a healthier birth control pill. Doubling up on hormones is extremely bad for your body. Not to mention, missing one wasn't your problem. Your problem was losing your current one. The correct response in that situation is to move on to the next days pill. If your pack is telling you to double up on pills if you miss one, they are probably all the same dosage because mixing different levels of hormones, especially without knowing the exact dosage, can seriously mess up your body.
Yumm
Contact your gyn. you didn't have to dig in the puke. ewww
Why not use a condom instead? It's safe and does not harm your body later! Just saying...
Plus it's more effective than condoms (if taken properly)
It's more effective ,yes! But it's bad for the body! It decreases the chances of a woman to get pregnant in the future! That's what I have read!
whatever you've read is wrong. The only birth control linked with problems getting pregnant later that I've heard about is Mirena, and that's only if it shifts. I've been on several different forms of b/c since I was 12 (bad issues with my hormones) and have 2 perfectly healthy babies after 2 easy pregnancies.
130- I'm pretty sure that isn't true. My nurse didn't say anything about that when she gave me the pill, nor do the information leaflets she gave me or the booklet that came in the box with the pills. If that was one of the possible side effects, I definitely would've been told about it
#130: This might come as a shock to you, many women take BC because of hormonal problems. My friend is a virgin and takes it because without it, she won't have a period. She is taking it to save her fertility so she can have kids. I suggest you don't try to "school" women since we know more than you a male when it comes to our bodies
why the hell would you try and retake it ? Just get a fresh pill! how disgusting.
Because you're not suppose to take the next days because it will mess up the cycle. If she hasn't had sex in over a week then she could of skipped it but either she had sex recently or she didn't think about that.
In one of her replies OP mentioned she is a virgin so I don't think pregnancy or the timing of sex was every going to be a problem.
I think that just grabbing a newer one would have been so much better.
My sister's taking birth control, so I understand the importance of having to take one. I am so sorry!
You shouldn't have to retake it. It's generally fine to skip a day. It wouldn't affect your coverage in any way. Sorry
No. If you skip one you should wait a week before having sex. 12 hours after you would normally take the pill, your body starts gearing up to ovulate. You know, releasing the egg (more chance of an ectopic pregnancy). It takes up to a week to get everything back to the safe zones when you won't get pregnant.
It's not great for your health to miss a pill, but you probably won't die. If I took my pill and puked, I wouldn't be too concerned about the partly dissolved pill; I'd probably puke more if I did attempt a hunt for it. I'd just ask my parents or doctor. I help with sex ed at my highschool and we just say take the next day's pill. Sorry about the experience though. That must have sucked.

As a male, I can't claim I know a whole lot about birth control pills... but is it really that detrimental to the cycle to just grab a new pill?
You didn't think to maybe take the next pill in the pack instead?
