Today, after the longest time, I went to the gym. I ran and ran and ran on the treadmill for an eternity, beating myself up for getting so overweight. Then I tripped and fell off, sweating and sobbing for being so useless. When I looked up, I saw I'd been on the machine for barely 2 minutes. FML

Today, I joined a gym. I’m overweight and not very athletic, so I was nervous. I looked around and tried a treadmill. I start walking at a chill pace, then got ambitious and cranked it to a "light jog." Within seconds, I tripped, fell, and sent the emergency stop button flying across the room. The gym staff ran over and I swear someone said, “Well, at least he’s trying.” FML

Soon those two minutes will turn into twenty. You are putting the effort in, which is more than a lot of people can say for themselves.

Don't worry about being overweight and going to the gym. At least people can see you are actively trying to pursue a goal. Keep your head up OP! :)

Good for you, OP. You should be proud of yourself! Don't give up on working out. You might want to try group classes if your gym offers them. It is a lot more fun to work out with other people and you can help each other stick with it. You can do it! :)

Two minutes on that treadmill is better than 2 minutes on the couch - chin up :)

People who start off pushing themselves too hard from the get-go typically drop out. Ease into it. Try alternating jogging and then walking at a brisk pace. Try 30 seconds each for 30 minutes.

You were there longer than I was. Small steps can make all the difference in the long run.

Why not just try walking around your neighborhood. You live in Ireland there have got to be some beautiful hiking spots.

You should be proud of yourself for Atleast making the attempt to change your body in a healthier way!! You go OP!

What are the YDI for? At least she accepted she needs to make a change

For trying to start out in a full run instead of working up to it. At least that's why I had to give both a FYL and a YDI.

i don't get why you got so many "ydi" . at least you tried, and pushed yourself. itll get easier!

Don't give up! You won't get the results you want over night, but as long as you work hard, you can do it.

That is 2 minutes longer than everyone sitting on the couch! Don't give up!
