Today, after the longest time, I went to the gym. I ran and ran and ran on the treadmill for an eternity, beating myself up for getting so overweight. Then I tripped and fell off, sweating and sobbing for being so useless. When I looked up, I saw I'd been on the machine for barely 2 minutes. FML

Today, I joined a gym. I’m overweight and not very athletic, so I was nervous. I looked around and tried a treadmill. I start walking at a chill pace, then got ambitious and cranked it to a "light jog." Within seconds, I tripped, fell, and sent the emergency stop button flying across the room. The gym staff ran over and I swear someone said, “Well, at least he’s trying.” FML

Soon those two minutes will turn into twenty. You are putting the effort in, which is more than a lot of people can say for themselves.

Don't worry about being overweight and going to the gym. At least people can see you are actively trying to pursue a goal. Keep your head up OP! :)

sounds like me. let me know what works for you OP could use some advice.

Don't start off my running, work your way up on the treadmill. Walking is also really good exercise. Try different things and don't give up.

Just keep on being committed and devoted! you'll definitely get to your goal :) and keep in mind that you're not the only person out there who's in the same situation as you

Begin with a trainer it will help you begin

You did more than I did today. Good for you, you actually went to the gym and started. Keep it up!

Be gentle with yourself, you're doing the best you can. No one is judging you, and if they are, **** them. At least you're actively fixing the problem instead of complaining.

Take one step at a time. And if you screw up one day. Start again the next day. 2 minutes on the treadmill is fabulous. Tomorrow go for five minutes. Good luck.

Slow down a little op. Don't overwork yourself, but keep going. start small. Some walking and cardio for a while and upgrade from there. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. make yourself happy, just remember patience is key!
