Today, after weeks of therapy for severe depression, my therapist thought it would be helpful to confess my deepest problems to my friends, to prove that it was alright to trust people. I did. They laughed. Hard. FML

I think you need some new friends. Depression is a very serious thing.

maybe you should start with small secrets next time, and see who you can trust and then move up to the big stuff. :)

New friends, or new therapist. Or both.

Really, who uses myspace any more? And why be sad enough to put it into every comment you post? So you look like you have loads fo friends, but really, you don't know any of them?

"Weeks" of therapy for major depression? Seems like a big step so soon.

If the therapeutic method is CBT, then the goal would be for therapy to last about 12-20 weeks, so for all we know therapy could be wrapping up for the OP, and the therapist might be trying to help him build up a basis of social support so he can stop coming in as often. Most people assume that psychotherapy takes years, which is true for Freudian therapies like psychoanalysis, but most people don't use it because it's not cost-effective and doesn't have a very good success rate. CBT, or eclectic therapies with a cognitive basis, are much more common right now. Though I don't know a lot about trends in Canada, so I could be wrong. However, you are right to point out that "weeks" is pretty vague--we don't know if it's two or ten. But I doubt the therapist would have suggested such a big step if some kind of progress hadn't been made.

Hate to say it, but never talk seriously to a guy like that. Most of us are idiots. Sorry, mate.

I think you speak for yourself on that _________________________ www.myspace.com/rapid99

No #47, he's not speaking only for himself. Um, and stop acting like a troll please...

Yeah, #45 is right. Guys are typically bad for that.

Maybe your problems are funny. Or maybe your problems are stupid. Or maybe your friends are your problem. In any case, learn from it.
