Today, as a bartender was carding my friends, I excitedly asked if he was going to card me. The guy gave me a blank stare before finally replying, "Look, lady, I don't have time to stroke some middle-aged woman's ego." I asked because it was my birthday. I just turned twenty-one. FML

He probably said it ironically, knowing it would piss you off. He's probably tired of being asked to card people.

# 39/52: Grow up. You are the psychotic one. Stop whining and complaining like you're 3 years old--everyone's jobs are "stressful and suck", EVERYONE'S. That's why they flock to bars, to relax and forget about their crappy jobs, not to be insulted by the guy taking their money and MAKING A DRINK. I would say being a bartender is one of the easiest jobs out there, relatively speaking, so drop the sense of entitlement. I'm not #19, but I would do exactly what she proposed, and I would be completely within my rights to do so. If you're a bartender, you're in the service industry, and you are being paid to service your customers, so do it and do it well. Otherwise, find other work and leave your job to someone who is capable of not pissing off the people paying him.

#19, I think you're taking this situation more seriously than the poster, lol. A lot of us live in a America, whose first amendment includes freedom of speech. If I think you're ugly, I'll say you're ugly.

sorry, but I had a mega laugh at this one! :) but, yeah, I'm not totally convinced it's even possible to look >40 when you're 21, unless you use a lot of make-up I suppose...

#55 Seriously you think that bartending is the easiest job? I'd like to see you memorize a bunch of recipes of at least 50 drinks and be able to have the personality to go to every person at the bar you work at and make sure all 20-30 people are happy and then be able to keep up with what everybodys drinking. What makes you qualified to say that bartending is one of the easiest jobs?

Wow, what a jackass. If I were a bartender I would be super nice to everyone (except when they were acting like tools and need to be kicked out.) I would think you make better money that way. But then again, it may be different than being a waitress.

I hope this doesnt happen to me this year when i turn 21.. plus I'm a dude and if i get mistaken for a middle agedwomen that is just effed in the a

as someone who has many pals a bartenders...it is annoying when young people are at a bar. especially on their 21st bday. too drunk and such. #19, get over yourself. most bar owners could care less and would be annoyed with a pesky 21 y/o returning over and over again to complain.
